  • Ban commercial trade in polar bear parts
"The world no longer has any polar bears to spare — certainly not to end up as a rug in front of a trophy hunter’s fireplace. We have to put a stop to the worldwide commercial trade in polar bear parts." -Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., NRDC Senior Attorney

  • "ATOMIC VETERANS DENIED BENEFITS"
Many nuclear tests have been performed over the last century. American troops were sent to Enewetak Atoll, Marshall Islands to attempt a Clean-Up Project. It was a joint task group effort including, the DNA, DOE, Holmes & Narver, AEC, and many more government agencies, as well as, Civilians and Foreign Nationals. All of the participants that were of the U.S. Military have been denied benefits for various cancers, etc, due to exposure to radiation. I am being treated for Stage III-C Colon Cancer. We also have been awarded a Humanitarian Medal for our efforts. We have to prove that we were there and provide witness statements, affidavits, travel orders, all while the V.A. has our records.

  • Tell Gov. Christie to use the federal money granted to New Jersey to help stop foreclosures.
New Jersey has been given $300 million dollars to fight foreclosures in the state. Gov. Christie has only seen fit to release $4 million since the grant was given in 2011. New Jersey has the second highest foreclosure rate in the nation and struggling homeowners could be helped by using these federal dollars. Gov. Christie needs to be told to help New Jersey homeowners.

  • Reduce hours and days for CPS students
Non-educators have made the decision to add hours and days of school. Young students need time to relax and recharge in order to be creative, deep thinkers. After homework, they have little if no time for relaxation or creative play. With both a longer school day and year, students are not at their best for learning.

  • Re-Re-Improve School Lunches
School lunches are now too small and students aren't getting enough energy, especially those who are poor and can't afford barely anything for food at home, and those who are constanly active. Some better suggestions for developing healthier eating habits and fighting obesity: Snacks for students of all ages that include fruits, veggies, grains, etc., investing in school sports and many other "let's get moving" type activities, and so on. Also: Stop wasteful spending on foam plates in schools! It's bad for the enviroment and buying regular plates could save schools thousands of dollars per year, helping schools use more money on textbooks, new equipment, and much more. Plus, it is our right to eat how we choose, is it not?
