Since the Supreme Court's unfortunate and unwise decision to allow unlimited contributions from corporations AND without the requirement to reveal the sources, our political system has been poisoned by Big Money. In the capitalist business realm the rule is one dollar one vote. We cannot allow this rule to preside in the democratic realm. We must keep the one PERSON one vote rule as our guiding principle.

Much of the hate directed at the US throughout the world comes from its perceived support of Israeli expansion into Palestinian territory. Billions of dollars are poured into a tinder box of ancient hatreds, cultures of violence and illegal land annexations. The national state of emergency enacted by President Bush on September 14th, 2001 in response to the events of 9/11 has been continued every year since, granting special powers to the President of the US, including the revocation of habeus corpus as well as affecting as many as 500 other statutory laws contingent upon a state of emergency. With Osama Bin Laden dead, and Al Qaeda's core leadership ranks destroyed, it's past time we restored the Constitution to its rightful place in our society and end the Constitution-shredding "national state of emergency." Please urge President Obama to end the national state of emergency and restore our Consititution as the law of the land.

The filibuster has been abused by overuse in recent years. It is both an indication and a tool for political division, gridlock and paralysis. Two aspects need correction: 1)the frequency of use needs to be limited and 2)the bar on cloture votes needs to be lowered from the 60 vote level.

The situation for tobacco farm workers in North Carolina is dire. Many farm workers often live in labor camps with deplorable conditions, suffer from nicotine poisoning and exposure to dangerous pesticides, and work long hours for below poverty wages. Workers aren’t taking this sitting down though. They are organizing to improve working conditions and demand respect on the job even in the face of threats and firings. I am protesting pay cuts for board certified physicians and officers in the U.S. Armed Forces. Never pay cut medical staff on duty during war time.

In attempts to run from their own party's stated agenda, Romney and Ryan are pretending that it really doesn't matter what that platform says. I want them to walk through each plank in the republican platform and identify whether they support or don't support it and why. (And if it's there and they DON'T support it, why is it there?) This petition asks Govenor Perry to stop playing politics with the lives of Texans by rejecting millions of dollars from President Obama's Patient Bill of Rights. It's about contractors workers who are not paid public holidays/sicktime and vacation. Yes it has affected me in the sense I did not make enough in 1 week to survive. Just because I did not work for 1 and a half day.
