Justice for WillieIn 2006, our son Willie Rogers, at the age of 19, was wrongfully accused and sentenced to 12 years in one of Ohio's prisons. Willie was a good kid, no criminal record, always worked, and was in college. His accusers are out of prisons, enjoying their life. Willie is still in prison as of this date August 7, 2012. His family started an organization called "Partners With Justice."152 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Diane Rogers

Allow backyard chickens in Joliet, ILThe City of Joliet is trying to force us to get rid our three backyard hens. A small flock of hens will produce eggs to feed a family, but they are pets and should not be classified by zoning ordinances as "farm animals."2,290 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Caroline Nelson

Classify ALL bashings as HATE CRIMESFollowing the recent events in Montana, It is time to call on Congress to pass Federal legislation to classify all bashings (be they due to sexual orientation, religion, race, gender or any other reason) as HATE CRIMES, and make them carry maximum penalty. Only then will things change for minorities.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Denis Antoine

Strengthen laws against mentally ill people legally buying weapons. My petition would be about gun control, particularly the ease with which mentally ill people get weapons. We need a much stronger screen for a person's mental state. I am concerned because I have a severely mentally ill person in my family who periodically has hallucinations about plots against him. I think mental health professionals could develop a stronger screening program to block these individuals from gaining weapons. When I hear about mass shootings I don't think hate crimes, I think mentally ill people with weapons.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Claudia Johnson

The PledgeThe pledge was started in 1986 by Grover Norquist and continues to this day. Members of Congress who have signed this pledge have promised never ever to raise taxes under any circumstances. My beloved Country, the USA has been in a financial crisis for years, and Congress who holds the power of money can help solve the problem, but refuses to do so because those that have a signed commitment to this group can`t. My Senator,Senator Lindsey Graham has broken this pledge and I call on others to ask their Members of Congress to do the same,so they can get something done.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Karen Ducote

End Congressional FavoritismTo urge a Constitutional Amendment preventing Congress from passing laws to which it makes itself or its members exempt. To encourage greater responsibility for the consequences of legislation which either does not impact them and/or gives them privileges not provided to those who elect them to office.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Paul W Sharkey

Congress Term LimitsAll congress members should have one 6 year term. One third of the congressmen would be elected every two years. They would go back to their home states with NO RETIREMENT AND NO MEDICAL INSURANCE when their 6 year term is over. When they reach retirement age, just like all of the rest of us , they would be eligible for Social Security and Medicare just like all the rest of us.11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Robert E. Pro Peace = eradication of ignorance and fear/hate through educationMandatory education on people's cultures and heritages which make up America's population is needed to prevent spread of ignorance, fear and hate especially in cases where it's misdirected. Also education on the constitution is needed to be implemented in the military, police and law enforcement and high school as a mandatory level of proficiency. This weekend there was a mass murder on a Sikh Temple or Gwardtha and the perpetrator likely thought he was attacking Muslims. The majority of the country does not know anything about the religion of Islam in the first place. Misunderstood, misguided anger. Military members take an oath to "support and defend the constitution of the united states against all enemies foreign and domestic." Yet after they take their oath there is no education or discussions on the constitution unless you have someone who wants to stick out their necks and have a private class with their troops. They have no idea why they are in Iraq and preparing to war with Iran as well as the attempted long term occupation of Afghanistan after Russia's failed 15 year attempt and bankruptcy and fall as a country. All the mandatory training in the military and none of it is on the constitution or the religions of the world which is the first thing we are taught that this "War on Terrorism" is from .... key word RIP Religious Ideological Political.... reasons for terrorist acts. Labels and racial slurs are perpetuated in the military which may have contributed and lead to the shooting in Fort Hood Texas as well as this last shooting in the Sikh temple. When people have a basic understanding of each other they have proven to get along better. Many Americans and in other countries work together side by side regardless of religious denomination or ethnicity. Multicultural heritage celebrations, food and festivals are great and do wonders for the communities. It can't be limited to one group and groups should not be excluded unless they perpetuate hate and fear through the spread of like messages of ignorance.11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Robert Hill
