• Body Camera a must
In light of current events it renews the need to call for police body cameras. We, the undersigned, join Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages and Legislator Siela Bynoe in urging Nassau County Executive Laura Curran to make body cameras a priority in ongoing police union contract negotiations. Body cameras are used by law enforcement throughout this country and creates transparency by providing a factual record of what occurred in all encounters between Police Officers and civilians. We understand that Minority Leader Abrahams and Legislators Bynoe and Solages secured funding for a PILOT program for body cameras in 2014, and that this program was blocked because the former County Executive had not included the police unions in the conversations about the program. Therefore, we respectfully request that Nassau County Executive Laura Curran and her administration make body cameras a part of the ongoing collective bargaining negotiations with the Police Benevolent Association and Superior Officers Association.

  • Police reform
Because these are the methods and mindsets behind racist cops who think they can brutalize minorities without impunity. If they are made to pay for it ..... monetarily or otherwise.. they may think twice. I am in the media..... and have written so many stories about officers and deputies shooting and killing minority "suspects" without hesitation. But because it wasn't caught on camera... they get away with it.. un-investigated and unquestioned.

  • Thank Governor Cooper
Scientific evidence and facts were used to develop a clear policy that demonstrates his true concern for the people of our state and the rest of our country. He understands the negative economic impact upon the city of Charlotte as well as our state yet he put the health and welfare of our state above the money.

  • Attorney General Barr must resign
By ordering the forceful removal of Black Lives Matter protesters from Lafayette Square and St. John's Church property on Jun 1, 2020, solely for the purpose of facilitating an unnecessary and ill conceived photo shoot by Mr. Trump, Mr. Barr has blatantly abused the First Amendment rights of peaceful American citizens. Mr. Trump had neither notified nor received permission from the church for this photo shoot. This is both a serious abuse of power and demonstrates a clear lack of regard for safety and the Constitutional rights of American citizens. Mr. Barr no longer has the trust of the American public, as head of the US Justice Department, to ensure Justice for All!

  • Cash app is holding money unlawfully
This is important because a lot of people had their stimulus checks and unemployment loaded to the app and now they are unable to pay Bill's or do anything because all of the money is being held by cash app.

  • Licensing for California police officers; police must pay settlements, not taxpayers
For decades we have watched, appalled, while the police have engaged in brutal attacks against Californians, especially if they happen to be people of color. The police are our employees. We literally pay their salaries and benefits. It is we the taxpayers who pay out huge settlements in the rare instances when the police are found guilty of engaging in brutal acts against us. Instead of working with us to stop police violence, they have exhibited a sneering disregard for our concerns and have militarized against us. It is not right that we the people are afraid of our employees and what they might do to us. That dynamic needs to be reversed. Immediate action to fix the situation is needed. Not long-term studies, not coffee meetings with local police or fruitless efforts to get them to take us seriously, not empty promises by politicians. We require the California legislature to take action NOW.

  • A voice that can't be ignored
People taking to the streets to peacefully display their anger and concerns seems to have only added fodder for the President’s plan to feed the fear and hate machine exacerbating the issue and moving us closer and closer to anarchy and his ultimate goal of Marshall Law and dictatorship. For the sake of our future, I think that all elected representatives should be working to produce a collective show of leadership that this country has seldom seen and one that will defy detractors from diminishing its message.

  • Prohibit the Use of Rubber Bullets
These bullets are obviously an inhumane and very dangerous way of handling protests that aren’t even violent. The police are trying to take away our first amendment right of peaceful protest with these weapons. To protect our rights and ourselves, rubber bullets must be prohibited. Nobody should lose an eye or develop brain damage for speaking out.

  • Boycott Trump
Donald Trump cares about his wealth. To get him to act in a humane manner, let alone a "Presidential" one, he must fear he will lose it unless he changes his behavior.

  • Withdraw all Cannabis Tax Dollars from Oregon Police
The police departments in the state are already more than well-funded. The 15% of cannabis tax revenue (that’s about $109 million of the $725 Million total in 2019) goes to them is simply not needed. This money could go to fund much-needed infrastructure and create jobs for people in need of work (Economists estimate the unemployment rate is truly around 20% since the pandemic undid 10 years of economic growth in two months).

  • Hold Minneapolis Police Chief Accountable for the Actions of His Force.
The culture of an organization is set from the top down. The murder of George Floyd has shown there is a serious problem with the values and culture within the Police Department of the City of Minneapolis. When officers such as Derek Chauvin are not reprimanded, held accountable, or prosecuted, it shows a culture that, maybe, doesn't value these actions, but it also doesn't condemn them.
