• You call yourself a patriot?!
Romney MADE his money in the U.S., but he hides it in overseas accounts to avert U.S. taxes. And you're running for PRESIDENT?! How do you square your behavior with calling yourself a "patriotic American?" Your father opened his tax returns TWELVE times. Seems like HE'S the patriotic American in the family.

  • Put Gary Johnson in the polls
CNN, MSNBC, Fox, ABC and CBS continue to ignore Gary Johnson because they only want a two-party race. One of the ways they ignore Gary is by excluding him from their polls. After all - if he gets 15% in the polls, they will have to let him debate Obama and Romney. What a disaster that would be for the Republicans and Democats and their lapdog media. Our only hope is NPR. Unfortunately NPR is bought and paid for by ... the Republic-rats and the Demo-cants. This petition is to NPR - start living up to your obligation to report the news, not the spin. Start telling us what Gary Johnson says every day. Then Americans will have an actual choice in November.

  • Stop FY 2013 Agriculture Appropriations Bill
Big Agri-business, in an attempt to subvert existing crop cultivation laws, is backing a bill that would prevent the USDA from enforcing regulations halting the planting of illegal, potentially hazardous genetically engineered crops before their safety has even been determined.

  • State of California: Don't take away accessibility for over 3.6 million Californians
California led the way in including people with disabilities and seniors in all of our communities by requiring that public spaces be physically accessible. Decades before the ADA was adopted, California put disability civil rights into law and regulation. Now, with no new studies – but with lots of pressure by certain business interests – the California Building Standards Commission will vote on a proposal by the new State Architect to reduce decades-old access requirements in a rushed 'emergency' vote this Thursday, July 19th. Tell the CBSC not to push people with disabilities and seniors back into physically segregated conditions.

  • Educate Not Incarcerate! Stop the School to Prison Pipline!
Children should be educated, not incarcerated, the "school to prison pipeline," a disturbing national trend wherein children are funneled out of public schools and into the juvenile and criminal justice systems. Many of these children have learning disabilities or histories of poverty, abuse or neglect, and would benefit from additional educational and counseling services. Instead, they are isolated, punished and pushed out. "Zero-tolerance" policies criminalize minor infractions of school rules, while high-stakes testing programs encourage educators to push out low-performing students to improve their schools' overall test scores. Students of color are especially vulnerable to push-out trends and the discriminatory application of discipline.

  • Mr. president, please let the IRS and not individual employers administer participation of employ...
Under the Affordable Healthcare Act, Employers are responsible for enrolling employees and their families for healthcare coverage, including determining who will be subsidised because of low wages and who will opt out of coverage for what reasons. In addition, buying insurance coverages from certain insurers may affect each employee differently and not for their best interests. This takes a lot of time for employers and may not represent the needs of each employee. Directing the IRS to take over this function increases the privacy of every employee no matter what their wage is; reduces the cost of analyzing which coverage to buy, contracting with the insurer, communicating each benefit to each employee and their family and paying for each employee's covereage with each insurance company. Because of the mass purchasing power of the government, it allows the IRS to negotiate better rates and coverage with each insurance company who will participate in the plan and in collecting employee contributions directly through income tax forms and payments. The major benefit is that individual employees will be better informed of their benefits and choices, have greater privacy for their financial status, and the small employer will have much less costs and responsibility and a reduction of errors due to participating in the plan as a middle-man between the employee and the government. Finally, using the IRS in this fashion will provide greater efficiency and less cost to the government.

  • Stop Wasting Taxpayers' Money! Stop Repealing Healthcare Reform!
Republicans have tried to repeal Obamacare 32 times... And failed. Healthcare reform is needed and needed now not later! My employer just decided once again to lower the amount in which they would pay. Now my healthcare insurance for one month is around $600, co-pays $45 and average prescription costs $50. My husband and I work every day and I want to have the same insurance the people I elected have! Why should our elected officials have better insurance than the average American's? So Stop Repealing Healthcare reform, wasting the money of hardworking Americans and start working for the people which elected you! Stop calling it Obamacare because it should be called America's Care! All elected officials regardless of party get to work and start taking care of the people that elected you in the first place!
