• Request The Justice Dept Investigate Mitt Romney
Numerous sources from the Boston Globe, Mother Jones to ABC News have produced detailed documentation, including SEC filings, that appear to indicate that Mitt Romney has lied to the SEC regarding his roll at Bain Capital between 1999 until 2002. I would like the US Department of Justice to investigate if criminal laws have been broken regarding these matters!

  • Legalize Production of Industrial Hemp
There are over 50,000 documented uses for industrial hemp from efficiently providing fiber to make paper products and textiles to plastics that can be made into car bodies almost impervious to sledge hammers. Currently, U.S. farmers are forbidden by law to compete with Canadian and other countries' farmers to produce hemp for the U.S. market and the U.S. is forced to import. It's time to recognize that the real "reefer madness" is the madness by which government has denied Americans access to so many crucial hemp-based solutions to myriad problems from deforestation to malnutrition and so many others. End the insane war-on-drugs policies that put America behind the rest of the world in taking advantage of hemp-based innovations.

  • Hourly wages for Government Officials
For many years Government officials have been taking advantage of high pay; long, paid vacations; and pensions unlike that of anything anyone really has a right to. Sure they are in charge of running our country, but others out there are in charge of supporting and securing our country that do not get even a 1/3 of that of the government officials. It seems a bit of a cheat that while so many of our nation is loosing their jobs, houses and health the officials are not impacted by the same threat to income and foreclosure that the majority of the country are subjected to.

  • Stop the Pebble Mine and Protect Alaska's Bristol Bay!
Global mining giants want to gouge one of the world’s largest gold and copper mines – an open-pit 2,000 to 5,000 ft-deep behemoth – into the headwaters of Bristol Bay, generating an estimated 10 billion tons of contaminated waste – 3,000 pounds of waste for every person on earth! The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has found that large-scale mining in the area would jeopardize the region’s legendary salmon runs – the lynchpin of the areas world-class ecosystem that supports Native communities’ subsistence fishing as well as a $445 million annual commercial and recreational fisheries economy. The EPA has the authority under the Clean Water Act to block terribly destructive projects like Pebble Mine. Your signature and comment will urge EPA administrator Lisa Jackson to save Bristol Bay by banning large-scale mining in the area, including the Pebble Mine.

  • TVA Settlement Funds must be spent in Western North Carolina
As part of its settlement agreement over Clean Air Act violations, the Tennessee Valley Authority has agreed to provide North Carolina $11.2 million over the next five years, with the first two payments of $4.5M coming in 2013. These funds can be allocated to 14 different categories of projects, such as energy efficiency, renewable energy, carbon-dioxide reduction, and pollution mitigation; AND should be targeted towards the region most affected by the original emissions—Western North Carolina. During the recent budgeting process, these funds were moved to the N.C. Department of Agriculture and the N.C. Biofuels Center and are at risk of being spent in other parts of the state.

  • No U.S. Debt Default
Every member of Congress must sign a pledge to guarantee the U.S. does not default on the national debt. Congress authorizes all government spending. Congress authorizes the government to borrow money to pay for that spending. Every member of Congress must promise to support all legislation that will prevent the U.S. from defaulting on the national debt.

  • Free and Equal Air Time
We the people own the air waves and broadband spectrum. Private industry leases these from us to gain billions of dollars in profit each quarter. We have the right to require them to provide free and equal air time for all qualified candidates. This will provide an opportunity for more voices to be heard and will the reduce the influence of wealthy individuals and corporate elites.

  • Governor Perdue: Veto House Bill 819
North Carolina legislators have passed a bill that forces state leaders to ignore scientific predictions that sea levels could rise by more than three feet in the next century. Just weeks ago a US Geological Survey study found the Cape Hatteras region a hot spot for sea level rise. We can't ignore sound science when it comes to global warming, rising sea levels and North Carolina's 301 miles of coastline. We are calling on Governor Perdue to put this matter to rest with her veto.

  • Represent US
As a first step in election finance reform, we need to ensure that our elected representatives actually represent the people that elect them. Therefore, any financial support should only come from people who can vote in the election for the office the person is running for.
