Social Security Fairness ActWe need your help! Public servants across the U.S. are penalized by GPO/WEP! Penalties: If you work in a government job and with its own retirement system, not paying into Social Security, you risk being penalized by WEP and/or GPO: The Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP): You can lose up to half or more of any Social Security benefits you have earned in other work paying required FICA taxes. The Government Pension Offset (GPO): If you are married to someone who is earning Social Security, you will probably lose all SS retirement or survivor benefits due you from taxes paid by spouse during the marriage. Check out: http://www.ssfairness.com/ In December 2011, Senators Kerry (D-MA) and Collins (R-ME) introduced the Senate version of the Social Security Fairness Act (S. 2010), which would repeal the Government Pension Offset and Windfall Elimination Provision. Representatives McKeon (R-CA) and Berman (D-CA) had previously introduced the bill in the House (H.R. 1332). Take Action Today: Urge your Senators and Representatives to cosponsor the Social Security Fairness Act. See if your Representative is a cosponsor. End the monopoly in NevadaNevada is home to thousands of seniors who want/ need medical alert systems in their homes. A land line phone is needed for these systems. Cox and Century Link, have a monopolistic hold on phone service in Henderson/Las Vegas. they do not provide land line phone service. AT&T does provide it but Cox and Century Link have kept AT&T out. Let's break this stranglehold and get the service we need.7 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Judith Halprin

Petition transparency and expansionPeople should be able to see the petitions and to vote for OR against them, or else it's just too frustrating and it appears the whole process is being rigged behind the scenes.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by "Korky" Kirk Norman Day

Florida Elected Officials: Get out of ALECALEC, the American Legislative Exchange Council, is comprised of state legislators and corporations, who pay to join. They then write model legislation that benefits the corporate backers' bottom lines and attempt to pass this legislation in state houses across the country. Much of it gets passed verbatim. Some of the model legislation ALEC has created or promoted includes the following: the Voter ID Act, the Defense of Marriage Act, and the Parent Trigger Bill. There have been 62 anti-environmental pieces of legislation that ALEC has pushed. The list goes on, for more information, you can visit alecexposed.org. The future of democracy is at stake when there is a shadowy back-room arrangement where corporations pay good money to get friendly legislators to introduce pre-packaged bills in state houses across the country. Tell your elected officials to serve their constituents, not the corporate backers of ALEC.431 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Kelly Iwansky
