The Philomath school board voted on the 2012/2013 calendar. There will be early release each Wednesday in addition to 7 Fridays off. This calendar is budget neutral. The purpose is to provide educators with time for professional development.

Corporate power must be reined in. An occasional skirmish may be won here and there but over all we, the people, are losing the battle, BUT with focus we can win! Imagine the power created if every progressive organization from Rainforest Action Network, to the AFL-CIO to Greenpeace to Audubon and there are hundreds more, unified behind one message, one issue on their websites and all lobbying dollars focused to one purpose: End Corporate Control of Our Banking Industry, Our Government, Our Healthcare System our Elections. Move-On is THE organization to unify progressive organizations with this one focus. Eliminating the control corporations have is akin to fixing the leaking roof which is our system, of issue after issue, leak after leak. Unless we put this first eventually the roof will collapse. Fix the roof first and there won't be so many issues, this must be our single focus.

Statistics show that whites and African Americans use drugs at an equal level, yet African Americans are sentenced to prison at 4 times or higher the rate of whites for the same crimes of possession or dealing (Human Rights Watch).
