• Justice for Trayvon Martin
It’s hard to believe it decades after Civil Rights movement in America and the related legislation that went through Congress, but a white racist vigilante can kill a 17 year old African-American and not even be charged, or detained even briefly, by the police. An unarmed 17 year old African-American, Travyon Martin was shot by George Zimmerman, a Neighbour Watch leader in a gated community who has been in constant touch with the police for years. Martin was walking home afar buying sweets. A police officer warned Zimmerman not to chase Matin when he phoned to communicate the information that he had seen something suspicious, i.e. a young black man walking through his community. Zimmerman ignored that advice, chased Martin and shot him dead. Not only was Zimmerman armed while Travyon was not, he is a lot bigger and stronger. The police appear to have let him off on the grounds of self-defence while tussling with Travyon. Utterly bizarre. Even in the unlikely event that Travyon was wining the alleged fight, shooting is to say the least a disproportionate reaction. Furthermore the police influenced a witness to revise testimony, failed to carry out basic procedures of testing Zimmerman for drugs and alcohol, and failed to make a medical examination to see if Zimmerman had been hurt in a fight, as he seems to have been claiming. The police also lied at first about Zimmerman’s criminal record, claiming he had none. The police are now claiming that they cannot arrest Zimmerman because they lack ‘probable cause’. I’m sure that whatever ultra-narrow, and fastidious, definition they are using of ‘probable cause’ would be applied if an African-American shot the 17 year old son of a police officer. (Not everyone gets sarcasm, apparently, so just to be clear that was sarcasm). A police officer has equated the victim with his murderer, by saying that both would wish they had acted differently on the day of the killing. As one would expect, there is a big reaction to this in America, and appeals are being made to the FBI and to the Federal Attorney General to get involved. So more than 50 years after Martin Luther King’s ‘I have a dream’ speech, it may still necessary for federal authorities to intervene in a former Confederate State to obtain justice for an African-American victim of an illegal killing. Despite the outrage, racist killer Zimmerman is still free and the grotesque police officers who have allowed this situation are still employed to ‘protect and serve’. It’s possible that some facts might emerge to make the killing less heinous than it might seem, but it’s impossible to see how that could leave Zimmerman guilty of anything less than manslaughter. Unless Travyon had a gang of thug friends round the corner ready to punch on him, or Travyon suddenly revealed himself to have superhuman fighting powers. (Sarcasm again).

  • Investigate Oil Speculation & Price Fixing
The out of control price of gasoline and oil can wreck our struggling economy and even our national security. The attorney general and the securities exchange commission need to investigate oil speculation and big oil for evidence of price fixing, collusion, or other illegal practices that could be causing the rise in gas prices.

  • Congress: Give us your health care and retirement benefits
Members of Congress enjoy the best health care coverage in the world, and retirement benefits that guarantee security after as little as a single two-year term. We all pay for these benefits, while Congress looks for ways to cut the nation's safety net for seniors, including Medicare and Social Security. If there have to be cuts, they should begin with our ruling elite.

  • Support H.R. 2316 "Fair Sentencing Clarification Act of 2011"
In 2010, Republicans and Democrats joined together to pass one of the most important sentencing reform laws in over a decade: the Fair Sentencing Act of 2010. The Act increased the amount of crack cocaine needed to trigger long five and ten year mandatory minimums, in effect, lowering sentences. But the Act does not help people already serving prison sentences, even though Congress determined those sentences were unfair. Two ways to take action, go to www.house.gov/representatives/find/ to locate your House Representative and send an email, letter or make a phone call or visit FAMM.org and click on the action center to write your congress person.

  • Wear All White For Women's Rights: Visibility Protest
I am writing because I am so frightened by what is happening in this country right now that I started a grassroots visibility protest. Wear All White for Women's Rights will take place on April 2nd, with the intention of raising public awareness of the all-too aggressive war on women's rights being waged across the US and the globe. Why wear white? The inspiration comes from Leymah Gbowee’s protests in Liberia, as well as from the history of the suffragist movement in the UK and the US; we think it will make a strong visual statement, and hopefully it will cause plenty of onlookers to ask "Why are you dressed like that?", giving every participant the opening to start a conversation about women's rights.

  • Restitution for Slavery to Blacks in N America
America is the most powerful nation in the world in terms of military, trade & agriculture. Most of this was achieved from the services of over 300 years by the great-great parents of Black people alive in USA today, many of whom are going through extremely adverse health and financial stresses, while the white descendants get prime heath care and low interest loans from the benefit that our current system of government that DID NOT include truly freed Black Americans in the equation. We want restitution in the form of some land for our own and being that a majority of this free labor took place here in Georgia we think we should have some land here, in Georgia, where we can do for Ourselves in our pursuit of Knowledge, Wisdom, Understanding, Freedom, Justice , Equality, Food, Clothing, Shelter, Love, & Peace which truly brings HAPPINESS.

  • Governor John Hickenlooper: Restore Homeowner's Rights In Colorado
In the state of Colorado banks can steal property in a 120 hearing with an affidavit and no clear chain of title of ownership. Currently the Magistrate rules on whether or not a homeowner is in the military or in arrears. A homeowner is not given due process of law and has little or no recourse other than to quietly let their home be stolen under the guise of a foreclosure that in its appearance allows the public trustee to sell the property at auction.
