Last year alone, police made over 16,000 arrests of students in Florida Public Schools. The vast majority of these arrests were for minor misbehavior that could have been dealt with (at a much lower cost) by school officials. Students as young as 5 years old are being carted away in handcuffs, instead of being led to the principal or guidance counselor's office. Local school districts have failed to make significant changes to stop this trend, and it is time for the state legislature to act!

Gov. LePage is seeking to axe 65,000 off of Mainecare. I am a clinical social worker who cares for mentally ill and substance dependant people. Many or most are on Mainecare, which they would likely lose if the cuts go through. If that happens, we will have even more crime as addicts have to "steal or deal" to feed their habits. And the mentally ill people would commit suicide or have other tragedies.

My petition is in response to states asking the poor to pee in cups to get aid from tax dollars. So, it would be much smarter to start with those that receive a salary paid by the people of the United States. From the president on down, cops, cps workers those that work in prisons. Any one that is paid by the government must pee.
