• Support for Youth Groups by the Pennsylvania National Guard
Many Civil Air Patrol, United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps, and Young Marine Units have lost facilities and resources when US military bases have closed. Many of these youth have been unable to find comparable facilities for their drills. We're asking the State legislators and governor to put in place guidelines under which Air National Guard and Army National Guard facilities would be encouraged to provide facilities for these youth.

  • Garrot Gas Giants
To bring gas prices down, we only need to boycott ONE company. (I'd suggest starting with BP) Tell them no one will buy from their company until they lower their prices to $1.00 a gallon. In order to survive, they must. When they do, the other companies will have to follow to compete.

  • Regulate Hydrofracturing (fracking) for Natural Gas to comply with the Clean Air and Water Acts
Natural gas is extracted by pressurized injection of fluids below the water table through deep rock using hydrofracturing or "fracking" technology. The process requires millions of gallons of water per well and produces equal quantities of waste water that is contaminated with benzene, radium and other pollutants known to cause serious health problems. At least half of the waste water enters water treatment plants that cannot remove the contaminants. Additionally, transport of water and gas results in truck traffic of 1000 trips per well, creating increased local air pollution. Fracking is currently exempt from the Clean air and Water and Safe Drinking Water Acts. We call upon the President and Congress to protect our precious air and water resources by closing the loopholes that exempt fracking for natural gas from appropriate regulation.

  • Allow the Unemployed Penalty-Free Access to Their Retirement Accounts
I've been unemployed for over two years and had to make the painful decision to take regular distributions from my IRA in order to pay my mortgage, utilities and creditors. This was unavoidable and, I believe, an honorable, responsible action on my part. However the IRS has penalized me 10% on every distribution...because unemployment is not one of the exceptions allowed under the law.

  • Keep The Crazy Lady!!!
"Crazy Lady among ESPN's Super Fans" Terri Jackson (Utah) There aren't many people who would find the nickname "Crazy Lady" to be flattering. Terri Jackson is one of them who does. Having graduated more than three decades ago from Utah, she still has the energy of a college student, which she demonstrates with her regular pre-fourth-quarter dance routine that involves a lot of shoulder shakes and flying fists. The entire stadium turns to her before the final 15 minutes, with the students chanting, "Cra-zy La-dy." She's been doing it since 2000. Jackson said she and her husband might hit the road for each game in the 2011 season to check out all the new venues in the Utes' next conference. Pac-10 fans, you've been warned.

  • corporations are not citizens
Corporations are not citizens. If we allow corporations to purchase our government by paying the individuals who should be representing us, we will have a government that represents corporations not citizens. A corporation is first and foremost an entity that operates to produce profits. This can and often will be in contrast to what would be done for the good of the citizen. This Supreme Court has harmed us as a country and this issue must be dealt with before we see how much damage it will cause.

  • Citizens Against Titan
Titan, a Greece based cement manufacturing company wants to build a cement factory in Wilmington, NC. The citizens of Wilmington, (New Hanover County) do not want the plant in our community. It will be situated on the Cape Fear River and mercury and other toxins will seep into the river which is a source for recreation and fishing. Titan has filed a lawsuit against a pediatrician and a housewife/mom who dared too speak out at a County Commissioners meeting as to how dangerous this would be to the air quality and how polluted the river would become.

  • Student loan forgiveness
If the President and Congress really wanted to jumpstart our economy they would pass legislation to partially / fully forgive any/all outstanding college loans. With additional spendable income many of these college grads would either spend more on durable goods or save it for down payments on homes, cars or other large ticket items.

  • Stop the keystone XL Pipeline - again!
The Keystone XL pipeline is being pushed by Republicans to carry the dirtiest crude oil ever from Canadian tarsands to refineries in Texas from where it will be shipped abroad. Refining this dirty oil for use guarantees that we will tip the rate of climate change over the edge of no return (Dr. Steven Chu). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNpQ2nTUYkU. President Obama has less than 60 days to reverse heavy pressure to approve it. We can help him do the right thing.

  • World for a Common Good
For the common good and for the common defense; is a Promise we as citizenry must keep. Common defense does not provide an unequal security to American global corporate power as a privilege. Military used to invade and occupy any country, for the gain of just one sector of American society. When this is perceived in action, this should be considered a break away from our concept of a common defense for the common good.
