We have a jewel here in South Fulton. 0 Campbellton CIR is located right around the corner from what is soon to be Westwood on the Chattahoochee (https://www.westwooddevelopment.us/). It is already zoned for commercial use and has the potential to be a unique complement to Westwood's commercial offerings. We need more community and business-oriented spaces in this neck of the woods, and 0 Campbellton CIR is the perfect opportunity. However, the developers want to carve up the land to suit their own interests. This is understandable as their plans will net a minimum of 6+ million dollars a year in rent and the area is highly desirable. About 2/3 of the land will need to be rezoned. We are not against apartments as they are useful and necessary. Just not on this plot of land. Especially when it means a zoning change. Timeline of Recent Events: • July 22, 2024: A public participation community meeting was held, for which many of us received last minute notice. There was still a decent turnout of concerned citizens, many of whom have reservations about the new development and who expressed concerns. • August 21, 2024: Planning Commission Hearing where a deferral was issued to Sept 10th. • September 10, 2024: Planning Commission Hearing where a deferral was issued to Oct 8th. • October 8, 2024: As I usually get the agenda via a mailing list on the day of, I do not know if there will be another deferral. It's possible that they will put forth a request again on this day. This is also a call for a Community Pulse. Developers, just like any other business, need to make money. So instead of constantly swatting down rezoning efforts, we can be proactive and declare what we would love to see in our neighborhood. This way, City Council has a "snapshot in time" of what their neighbors want and are better equipped to make decisions. I'll go first. For 0 Campbellton Circle's 42.89 Commercial Acres I would love to see: • Coworking Spaces: similar to Atlanta Tech Village • Upscale Event Spaces and Conference Rooms • Local, non-disruptive "night out" places like Escape Rooms, and Painting • Affordable places to open a business • Local Fresh Markets or Greenhouses • Protected greenspace with safe walking trails • Community classes • Music Spots and Activity Spaces for Seniors to socialize • Dog Parks • Playgrounds • Etc. because I know you guys have even better ideas. There is so much potential with the proper planning and the right developers. I know places like these exist around our city, but they are scattered. Most often we have to venture into Douglasville or East Point. We need more closer to home. Neighbors, I'd love to hear what you think and what ideas you have for what those 42 acres could be. But first, we need to stop the land from being carved up and rezoned into apartment buildings. Please lend your voices below.

Workers deserve to be protected, not put in harm's way. No one should have to risk their life to earn a paycheck. This is about standing up for the rights and safety of workers everywhere and ensuring that companies like Impact Plastics are held accountable for their negligence. MacBride Hall and by extension the University of Iowa is making a conscious choice to make the lives of their disabled students more difficult, and have made no effort to correct their discriminatory inaction. Help us put their feet to the fire, and spread the word. MacBride is the tip of the iceberg: many accessible entrances, bathrooms, elevators, and even evacuation plans demonstrate a clear lack of desire to truly accommodate disabled students. Our mission across our time here at Iowa is to hold the whole of the University accountable for their numerous violations of disabled rights.

It is important for the ninth graders to participate in my campaign, as it is unjust that we are excluded from the highschoolers' recreational activities despite being acknowledged as members of the school community. By rallying others to our cause, we can convey to the higher authorities that our desire for inclusion is not isolated but rather a collective sentiment. Together, we can effect change and secure our rightful participation in a broader array of activities at the highschool.

We are a peaceful state worried about our farms, land, and cattle. We have had an influx in recent years or radicalized people from other states who have taken over our politics and our society. This is not Idaho nor is it Idaho values. Tell our politicians we will not accept their behavior to our Native Peoples or our state as a whole. 

The reality is that the U.S. government is Netanyahu's largest supplier of weapons, and Congress has already passed legislation to send Israel $3.8 billion every year for the next five years. In the last year alone, Congress has voted to send more than $10 billion in American taxpayer dollars to the extremist Israeli government to buy more of the bombs and more of the weapons they are using to bomb and kill the Palestinian and Lebanese people. One in every 55 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023. You read that right: One in every 55 Palestinians have been killed in the last year. Entire multigenerational Palestinian families have been killed and erased from the registry. Entire lineages have been wiped out. And nearly half of Gaza's residents are under the age of 16, and 65% are under the age of 25, effectively meaning that Palestinian children are bearing the brunt of the Israeli government's collective punishment. It must end now. 50,000 pregnant women and people remain at great risk in Gaza too, with miscarriages, premature births, and stillbirths tripling. One mother, Hind S., almost gave birth to her baby under the rubble in the aftermath of an Israeli military airstrike before she was dug out and rushed to a hospital, where her baby was born with a broken leg from the airstrike. Babies, children, and families in Gaza are also starving to death.19 Nearly 2.1 million people are food insecure, with 96% of children from 6 months to 2 years old not meeting the minimal nutrition requirements. It's egregious. Netanyahu's military has completely violated international law and committed war crimes time and time again. And none of this would've been possible without United States weapons paid for by our very own U.S. taxpayer dollars. Enough is enough! Our members of Congress need to block the $20 billion offensive arms sale to the Israeli military NOW. Will you sign the petition?

Without financial support, Tisha's ability to return to law school may be at risk, despite her strength and resilience in the face of immense hardship. This campaign is not just about helping one person but about advocating for fairness and ensuring that students in similar situations have a path forward.

Officially, as of Monday, Sept. 30, councilmembers got a larger paycheck. Five councilmembers decided to bypass the Ethics Code and City Charter, voting to give themselves a 40% raise, from $50,000 to nearly $70,000, including allowances, effective immediately. The Mayor will earn an additional $25,200, bringing his effective paycheck to more than $100,000. This was a SALARY INCREASE, plain and simple. Laredo City Councilmembers will now receive MORE than a San Antonio City Councilmember, where the budget is $4 Billion and the population is 2.5 million. Laredo with a population of 260,000 has a budget around $980 million.

We all play on these fields and our kids are exposed to these chemicals for extended periods of time all year long. Let’s not wait for more studies that show the dangers of turf fields. Let’s get ahead of this!
