More and more businesses are increasing their dependency on providers like CrowdStrike, which controls nearly 18% of its cybersecurity market. Meanwhile, just three companies—Google, Amazon, and Microsoft—control a whopping 65% of the cloud provider market. July’s chaotic global blackout was just a preview into what could happen if a major tech company experienced a similar kind of crash—scenarios could include the global economy being rocked, fulfillment coming to a screeching halt, and people being unable to contact loved ones or receive lifesaving care. As long as Big Tech holds onto its monopolies, regulations are harder to enforce, emerging tech companies struggle to compete, and pricing remains controlled by a few CEOs. With the internet becoming centralized in the hands of four or five big companies, even one breakdown carries huge consequences. We need the Federal Trade Commission to step in and break up Big Tech in order to mitigate risks and avoid global outages. As our lives and businesses continue to become more and more intertwined, we’re opening ourselves up to more blackouts and more crashes.

Right now the majority of funding for public education comes from state and local governments—and far too many school districts are falling through the cracks. We need to fully invest in our future, and that means taking bold steps to reimagine how we fund public education in our country so that everyone can have an equal opportunity.  Underfunding in schools affects educator retention which can lead to larger class sizes and less tailored instruction. There is currently a teaching shortage as wages stagnate, responsibilities increase, and support dwindles. By investing in schools, we will be investing in educators—and appropriately compensating and resourcing those who spend their lifetime teaching the next generation.  Underfunding also means fewer extracurricular activities, which impacts enrichment, a well-rounded education, and opportunities post-graduation. And it means learning environments that are unsuitable and unsustainable—with leaks, poor ventilation, and crumbling infrastructure.  The lack of funding for education disproportionately negatively impacts Black and brown students, having long-term and pervasive consequences for families. One study found that Black students are 2x more likely as white students to attend school in districts with “subpar government funding” and 3x as likely to reside in districts that are “chronically underfunded.”  Donald Trump's and MAGA would make the state of public education even worse. Their Project 2025 manifesto has an entire section focused on reshaping, or more accurately dismantling, our public education system and a plan to drain all of our resources to reroute to private education. The plan includes eliminating the Department of Education, getting rid of teachers unions, ending federal funding, and gutting any programs that support equity and inclusion, even free school lunch programs and Head Start. Our communities are stronger when every child has access to good quality education. We need to invest our resources to fully fund public education NOW!

Our mayors must lead with care and compassion—not by using ineffective interventions like punishing fines or jail time, proven to only exacerbate the issue of houselessness. Being unhoused is not a crime, and many local leaders understand that we can’t arrest our way out of the homelessness crisis. Unhoused Americans need trauma-informed community outreach, mental health services, and job training as a pathway to permanent housing. Housing-first is the only strategy proven to break the current cycle between housing insecurity and jail. It's time we stop the cruel and dehumanizing criminalization of poverty and houselessness, and instead invest in compassionate solutions that actually work. We've seen this in both Los Angeles and Denver where lawmakers have taken a slower, coordinated approach to tackling the homelessness crisis—one that starts with encouraging unhoused folks to accept supportive services, with the eventual goal of permanent housing. And there is promising evidence that this care-first approach actually works: Despite pressure from Governor Newsom, Los Angeles has actually seen a decrease in the unhoused population between 2023 and 2024.  We need mayors and local leaders across the country to follow suit in putting care first and refuse to fine or arrest unhoused people just for existing.

The number of injustices against animals in Puerto Rico that have gained world-wide attention continue to grow and deem Puerto Rico undesirable as a place to visit. The money that goes to the killing contractors can be spent in humane ways in coordination with 501c3 organizations. As RFK Jr. continues his irresponsible spoiler campaign for president, more concerning and odd information continues to surface about his track record. This most recent confession is just one of many that calls into question RFK Jr.’s judgment and his ability to put the American people first. It’s clear: he is deeply unfit to serve as president.  RFK Jr. has been lying about this incident for ten years. And he didn't even confess until he was caught by a journalist. RFK Jr. finally disclosed that he dumped a dead bear cub carcass in Central Park along with an old bicycle to make it look like it had been hit by a cyclist. The incident sparked widespread concern and confusion in the morning when it was discovered. It led to costly work by multiple city and state agencies, and added to a culture of fear around cycling and the safety of New York City's parks. RFK Jr. watched all of this happen due to his lies, and still refused to come forward.  RFK Jr. would have been 60 years old at the time—a full grown adult who knew what he was doing was a crime. He even admitted being worried, stating his prints  “were all over that bike.”  RFK Jr. wants to paint this incident as a harmless prank, but when it occurred it was a mystery that concerned New York City residents and launched NYPD investigations. Also, a team had to come in and clean up the health hazard RFK Jr. dumped in the public city park. RFK Jr. is not above the law and should be held responsible for the wasted time and resources his recklessness cost New York taxpayers.  That’s why we’re urging city officials to investigate RFK Jr.’s crime and hold him financially accountable!

This issue is important because having clean water to drink and bathe in is a basic human need. 

We must all do what we can to fight climate change and greenwashing. Let the Dodgers know they can play a big, positive role.

Join this campaign for change so that all of these animals can live out the rest of their lives in a better place. No animal deserves to live their life the way these animals have had to. The big cats are trapped in small dog pens with nothing to keep them entertained. The alligators are on top of each other because they have no room to move around. The baby alligators are hit and shaken around in order to get them to “behave” when people tape their mouths shut and hold them upside down by their tails. 

Project 2025 is a dangerous 900-page proposal by the Heritage Foundation that would harm communities across the U.S.  It is a blueprint for rolling back all of the important roles that our governments can play in supporting and affirming healthy and prosperous communities. Project 2025 would slash government funding for numerous programs. It would dramatically cut funding for environmental protection and give a future White House unchecked power to hurt working people, cut Social Security by raising the retirement age, fire civil servants and replace them with presidential loyalists, eliminate abortion, and roll back our rights.  Project 2025 would also block many of the programs that help fight discrimination in our communities.  The outages have spanned some of the hottest days ever recorded in the region, and they have affected thousands of residents, including a large assisted living facility. Dominion is disrupting the lives and threatening the health of its rate payers. We deserve better. We deserve information, compensation, and an explanation! 

This election 41 million Gen Zers will be eligible to vote, including 8 million new voters. Not only that, but 3.5 million adults of voting age have been naturalized in the U.S. since the last presidential election. That’s a significant number of people who can be mobilized to vote this election.  Celebrities like Beyoncé and Taylor Swift can use their platforms to reach voters in ways that are difficult for politicians to. Beyoncé has 311 million followers and Taylor Swift has 284 million followers on Instagram alone! And touring musicians—with tens of thousands attendees—can literally use their platform to register voters and get them energized to elect Kamala Harris for president.  We’re going up against Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans, so the stakes could not be higher. Last presidential election was record breaking for voter turnout, with nearly 66% of the population casting a ballot.
