I want Dr. Christine Blasey Ford to know she is not alone. I want to let her know that we stand with her and commend her for her courage by choosing to put her civic duty before her personal wellbeing and safety. By doing so, we also seek to empower survivors of sexual assault who want to come forward but are afraid to do so.

Environmental cleanup would improve a beloved town resource by decreasing the amount of metals, prevent increasing shallowness via sedimentation and bring good jobs to the area through environmental cleanup companies. It is a win-win-win for Schneider Electric, the Town of Foxborough and the natural resources and aquatic life that surround, and are part of, the Neponset Reservoir.

With the circus the Democrats are pushing forward over the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh, it's well past time that We the People find out how many of them are "dirty." We all know that $17 million of taxpayers' funds were paid out to women who have accused congress members of sexual assault, but they were all conveniently silenced, instead of letting them have their voice, their time in court. It's time for President Trump to release the names of those congress members, as well as the dates of the incidents and the names of their accusers - completely unredacted.

Time and time again, Sheriff Driscoll has shown that he will choose to enforce racist laws that tear apart our communities. When met with community demands that he stop deporting our communities, adopt an official policy of non-cooperation with ICE, and release all records of the County’s cooperation with ICE, Sheriff Driscoll’s only response was to deny these possibilities and shrug off his responsibility to Flagstaff families. He stated, “I took an oath of office to enforce the law, not to modify it”.

An epic catastrophe is now unfolding in North Carolina in the wake of Hurricane Florence. Mass environmental devastation and tragic loss of millions of farmed animals and wildlife have been intentionally sacrificed to protect profits for BigMeat Corporations that operate in the state. On behalf of industry lobbyists, state legislators have gutted laws that protect animals and the environment from cruelty and neglect by BigMeat corporations. Contract farmers for BigMeat Corporations are allowed to abandon farmed animals to natural disasters such as the massive flooding caused by hurricane Florence. In 2010, North Carolina actually banned state officials from taking into account the escalating impacts of climate change in its coastal management strategy. State legislators have also excluded farmed animals from state animal welfare laws- so farmers can mistreat, neglect or abandon farmed animals with near full impunity. State legislators have also protected BigMeat Corporations from environmental regulations. Factory farms are the leading source of groundwater and air pollution and devastation to wildlife in the state. Toxic sewage loaded with bacteria like E. coli and heavy metals impacts homes, schools and churches in the region. Over the past two years, 23 law suits have been filed by over 500 residents whose health has been affected by chronic exposure to toxic pollution by factory farms. In response, state legislators have put a cap on damages that can be awarded to citizens suffering from corporate polluters, and expanded laws to make it harder for citizens to sue BigMeat corporations. State legislators in North Carolina have consistently favored BigMeat polluters over the health and welfare of its citizens and the protection of local environment and wildlife. As a result of this corporate protectionism by state legislators, foreign countries like China outsource their meat production to NC, because it’s up to 50% cheaper to factory-farm animals in the state due to loose environmental and humane regulations by state legislators. In the wake of destruction by Hurricane Florence, Governor Cooper has an unprecedented opportunity to make a stand for democratic justice and create a model of democratic reform against corporate cronyism. The Supreme Court is the highest court in the land, with a lifetime appointment. Brett Kavanaugh should not be confirmed nor voted upon until the FBI does an investigation. It's the very least the Senate and White House can do. The American Bar Association agrees saying: "The basic principles that underscore the Senate's constitutional duty of advice and consent on federal judicial nominees require nothing less than a careful examination of the accusations and facts by the FBI." There is no reason to rush through a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the nation.

Yesterday, the Pennsylvania House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee voted in favor of an amended version of a Senate bill designed to quash protest. It is modeled after a sample bill written by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). Versions of the bill have shown up in at least 31 states. The amended bill is still terrible. You'll notice that, unlike the ALEC bill, the PA bill defines schools as critical infrastructure facilities, so this isn't just about criminalizing pipeline protesters. The first opportunity for a floor vote will be on October 9th. If the amended bill passes the House, it will go back to the Senate, so we're asking you to sign this petition to all PA legislators telling them to vote NO on SB652. After only nine months in state office, State Senator Dean Tran is already ducking his responsibilities to the public. He’s refusing to attend the Sentinel & Enterprise’s October 24 State Senate debate with his opponent in the November election, Leominster City Councilor Sue Chalifoux Zephir. Senator Tran said no to the newspaper’s invitation to a one-on-one debate, saying he would only “respond to written questions” with written answers. The two other forums Tran has agreed to participate in will provide candidates with the questions or topics in advance, making the Sentinel & Enterprise debate the only open-ended debate of this election. The Sentinel & Enterprise reported recently that 75 percent of Tran’s campaign donors are from outside of the district. Perhaps he believes he is no longer accountable to his constituents. Tell Dean Tran to respect the voter of our region and agree to the Sentinel & Enterprise debate! Voters deserve to hear from him about the issues facing families in North Central Massachusetts.

The artificial deadline to vote on SCOTUS does not indicate than any serious consideration is being given to a number of recent allegations. Let's be sure we're making a genuine effort to find the best candidate for this lifetime appointment.
