• Get the FBI to investigate the Shreveport/Bossier judicial system
I've personally experienced the judicial corruption in Shreveport/Bossier for nearly a decade, having been illegally arrested by a bail bondsman and convicted on the charge, my children being adopted by my parents without due process and no legitimate reason, and having my phone searched by law enforcement with no open case or cause while under a witness subpoena, among many other infractions. This criminal behavior has to stop! The Louisiana, judicial system is essentially a corrupt network of law officials seeking power and monetary gain!

  • Stop Animal Testing
Animals should not be suffering to provide cosmetic products, most of which are not even necessary for humans. It is not morally or economically right to abuse millions of animals a year when there are other, cheaper, ways to test product safety. Protecting animals should be our top priority.

  • Keep Nelson Santos Home
**UPDATE** Thursday, June 14th Nelson received a 6 month stay of deportation this afternoon. This good news means that we can continue to fight to keep Nelson home! The bad news is the transplant surgeons will not give Nelson his new kidney unless he can guarantee to be home for one year of post operative care. The fight to keep Nelson home so he can get his life saving surgery (and live his life with his wife and children) continues! #KeepFamiliesTogether! The brief history: Nelson has lived in the Stamford, Connecticut for 30 years and is married to a U.S. citizen. He is a dad and a homeowner. Nelson’s wife Patricia successfully petitioned for him to stay in the US, but an ICE judge ignored the USCIS recommendation to approve his green card and wants him deported.    In what seems like a never-ending downpour of anti-immigrant, anti-family sentiments and actions at the hands our government, this is yet another show of the inhumanity and callousness of ICE.   Nelson’s deportation order is a de facto death sentence. If he returns to Honduras, he will die. He gets dialysis in his home town 3 to 4 times a week- and this is what is keeping him alive until his transplant.   Join us in speaking up for Nelson.  Please sign this petition and share it with 3 friends. • Stop Segregated Busing
Please help us stop segregated busing of students in Lakewood. The Lakewood Board of Education funding is funding busing of 40,000 students on buses and to schools that are segregated by both sex and religion which is strictly forbidden by the State of New Jersey Constitution. The public schools are failing because they receive less money than what is paid for the segregated busing to segregated schools..

  • Legalize Hemp
Hemp grows quicker and uses less water when compared to similar crops, meaning that shifting to hemp could be a net boon for the environment. It is an especially good alternative to cotton, which is one of the dirtiest crops when it comes to pesticide use and greenhouse gas emissions. Hemp can be used to make rope, clothes, and many other fabrics and materials -- but the crop has been unfairly tied to strict marijuana policy for decades, despite negligible amounts of the psychoactive compound THC. Legalizing hemp could help the environment, farm income, and consumer choice! It's about time: tell your members of Congress to pass the Hemp Farming Act.

  • Demand Disney stop funding NRA-backed gun extremists
Adam Putnam, Florida Agriculture Commissioner and candidate for governor, proclaims himself a “proud NRA sellout.” And yet Disney and its affiliates has given over $840,000 to Putnam’s political action committee. It’s been two years since 49 people were killed at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. As a queer student of color living in Florida, I know firsthand that my community is still reeling from these horrific losses of life. Under Putnam’s watch as Agriculture Commissioner, Florida’s Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services failed to perform background checks -- for a year -- on applicants for concealed weapons permits because the staffer responsible for running these couldn’t figure out how to log in to the FBI’s background check system. Putnam is clearly a danger to Florida. Disney, you market to the LGBTQ community so heavily in Florida and beyond, especially during Pride month, and yet June will always be marked to us as the month in which so many beloved people lost their lives to gun violence. Your support of NRA extremist Adam Putnam is a slap in our collective faces. You must pay attention to your customer base, not just line your pockets from us. People of color especially make up large portions of many audiences from which you profit, including the LGBTQ community. Disney, for you to donate profits that you make off of the parents of young kids, and the parents of children killed by gun violence; your continued support of Putnam is insulting and disgraceful. This is especially true for Black families and communities, who are already so disproportionately affected by gun violence. And we have had enough. Disney, we are holding you accountable. Stop funding Adam Putnam’s bid for governor of Florida.
