Now that Justice Antonin Scalia with his racially tinged rhetoric has exposed himself as a radical partisan, an activist judge in every sense, it is time for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to demand more impartiality and more decency from the members of his court. We call on the Chief Justice to repudiate Justice Scalia's recent comments and to demonstrate the impartiality of the court.

The Beaverton Police have started performing police stops on innocent people "en masse" while having no suspicion of a crime, and no way to possibly suspect them of a crime, only to find 99% of the people they stopped are innocent. These people are effectively detained, immobile, and forced to show proof of their innocence against theft, under threat of being arrested if they do not show their papers... A TriMet transit ticket. Has this happened to you? If you ride the Max, chances are it has. The Beaverton Police either board the train, or they wait outside the train. Sometimes they come on in rapid swat-like fashion, and they carry GUNS, wear the complete vest/riot gear, and they really get up in your face demanding the ticket. Why should innocent people be subjected to repeated police action? It would seem like the very laws preventing the police from harassing innocent people are repeatedly being violated by the Beaverton Police. What about the constitution? The 4th Ammendment protects against unreasonable search, saying the civilians are "secure in their papers". The 5th Ammendment protects against self incrimination. The Miranda rights provide that you don't need to talk to police. They have violated all these rights. Moreover... We FEEL violated by their actions. We FEEL like our rights of interaction with police... Only if they are investigating a real crime or have suspicion about you personally... have been stripped away, and if they can do THIS... What's to stop them from doing anything? Please..... We need your help.

As a straight male, I have the right to get married. We should all have the right to get married. Gay, lesbian, whatever.... We need to get the government out of marriage. We should be allowed to marry whoever we want, regardless of gender! Make marriage laws unbiased in the state of Georgia!

A final vote on marriage equality in Illinois could take place any day - and State Representative Rita Mayfield may be the deciding vote on whether we will finally guarantee equal marriage rights for every citizen in our state. Rep. Mayfield has said she'll vote her constituency and asked residents from across the 60th House District (Waukegan and North Chicago) to weigh in on how she should vote.

UPDATE: Spa World posted a statement on their facebook page referring to the backlash as "ignorant comments", told the Washington City Paper that this was a "miscommunication," and that "SpaWorld does not, and never has refused entrance to our facility based on sexual orientation." In order for Spa World to be truly welcoming of its LGBT customers, we are asking for a policy of non discrimination and gender inclusion developed with local organizations and activists. -- Spa World recently issued a statement that they do not allow "abnormal sexual oriented" and transgender customers into their facility, going as far as to remove someone who didn't fit conventional gender norms. All people should be allowed to use this facility without fear of discrimination. Many LGBQT people have been loyal customers of Spa World for years, and no longer feel comfortable going. Many others may have avoided going for fear of discrimination. And while it is news that this is official policy, LGBTQ people have long complained of Spa World staff assigning gender at the door through different colored uniforms. Beyond a new policy, there are many ways Spa World could become welcoming - training, family rooms, gender neutral rooms and clothing - we look forward to working on solutions in partnership with Spa World. Beginning on March 25, the North Carolina DMV will begin issuing pink drivers licenses to non-citizens. Who gets them? Deferred action recipients, those under temporary protected status, legal permanent residents, and anyone else in North Carolina, according to the state's Department of Transportation spokesperson, that doesn't have the right to vote. Now Lansing Republicans want to change the rules of the game by rigging Michigan’s electoral votes ahead of the 2016 election. Lansing Republicans have already tilted the scales in their favor in Michigan’s legislative and congressional districts. Last year Republican politicians drew new maps that gave themselves a majority of seats, even though Democrats won more total votes in Michigan This isn’t what our founding fathers had in mind when they drafted the constitution.
