• Urge Nike to Drop Serena Williams as a Spokesperson
A direct quote from Serena Williams about the Steubenville, Ohio events: "Do you think it was fair, what they got? They did something stupid, but I don’t know. I’m not blaming the girl, but if you’re a 16-year-old and you’re drunk like that, your parents should teach you: Don’t take drinks from other people. She’s 16 - why was she that drunk where she doesn’t remember? It could have been much worse. She’s lucky. Obviously, I don’t know - maybe she wasn’t a virgin. But she shouldn’t have put herself in that position, unless they slipped her something. Then that’s different."

  • Call on Congress to support labeling of genetically engineered food
Now more than ever, the United States needs a policy for genetically engineered food labeling: there are genetically engineered ingredients in up to 70 percent of the foods on grocery store shelves, the USDA is considering approving a genetically engineered apple this spring, and the FDA is nearing its approval of a genetically engineered salmon. The labeling of genetically engineered foods should be mandatory. The public has the right to make an informed choice about the food they buy for their families. Without mandatory labeling of genetically engineered foods, consumers are left in the dark. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) and Representative Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.) have sponsored new federal labeling legislation, the Genetically Engineered Food Right to Know Act (S. 809 and H.R. 1699), in the Senate and House. Take action and tell your senators and representative to support the genetically engineered food labeling bill.

  • Governor LePage: Label GMOs in Maine!
Thanks to thousands of Mainers speaking up, both the House and Senate voted to pass LD 718, which will label genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in Maine. The Maine House of Representatives voted 141– 4 in favor of the bill. The Maine Senate voted 35-0 in favor of the bill. The bipartisan support for this issue has been incredible! But we still need your help to make history. The success of this bill is now in the hands of our Governor. Please sign this petition and share widely. Ask Governor LePage to sign LD 718 into law to label GMOs. Thank you to everyone who has helped get us this far. Now, let’s make the final push to make GMO labeling the law of the land in Maine!

  • Prince Georges County Foreclosures Highest in The State Of Maryland
Since 2007, our nation has been in a recession. Prince George's County is still a targeted community struggling with the highest rate of foreclosures in the state of Maryland. Countless so-called "nonprofit" agencies have absorbed millions of dollars in the name of assisting homeowners, but the money never reaches the people of Prince George's County. Banks continue to behave fraudulently. Local judicial systems turn their heads, or perhaps they do not understand or know the laws of the courts. Elected officials won't address the issues of the people who voted them into office and built the Prince George's County community. Millions of dollars have been lost and are unaccounted for. Our leaders do not demonstrate accountability. We've seen ineffective modifications that eventually lead to foreclosure and predatory lending with exceedingly high interest rates. This petition is a call to action to keep our homes and the land we live on in Prince George's County. STOP foreclosures. Eliminate spectators coming into our community.

  • Tires Plus Should Accept Responsibility-$5,300
Tires Plus did not perform their duties and it caused by engine to seize and now I am paying $5,300 for a new engine and they will not accept responsibility for what happened. They cover up their mistakes by giving their stores 7 days to make things look perfect and it allows their claims department to deny claims.......

  • First Lady Obama: Help us be Healthy with Accurate Food Labeling
Labeling on food products is inaccurate and too often incorrect. Some labels say product of Canada, but that doesn't mean the food source originated in Canada. Force food producers, food wholesalers and food distributors to label all ingredients as to country of origin. Stop the duplicity.

  • Stop corporations from filing patents that smother innovation.
Apple has allegedly avoided paying billions of tax dollars in the U.S. by using a complex network of Irish subsidiaries. They were recently called to congress to answer these allegations. What followed was an apology and then praise for creative accounting practices. Apple has just recently filed a patent that covers processes that are ubiquitous as the mobile phone. These are the kinds of monopolies that plunged us into the Great Depression and have smothered innovation this time around. Last time the monopolies were at least paying Americans and not off shoring everything. The only unique element to this patent is the shameless favoritism afforded monopolies. Congress needs to act now. http://venturebeat.com/2013/06/06/apple-files-imoney-patent-for-virtual-currency-digital-wallet-and-free-stuff/ http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-adv.html&r=10&p=1&f=G&l=50&d=PG01&S1=(apple.AS.+AND+20130606.PD.)&OS=An/apple+and+pd/6/06/2013&RS=(AN/apple+AND+PD/20130606)

  • Stop Shopping at Von's Ralph's Albertsons
I'm pretty sure there are some civil rights attorneys along with the ACLU that will address this issue With Whole Foods. In the meantime no Corporation is perfect consider Ralph's and all those supermarket chains like Albertson's Von's market even Trader Joe's & Sprouts. While the above-mentioned sells organic products they continue to sell products that are processed for shelf life the same preservatives they put in wood finish are the same types of preservatives that Are in the foods All the MSGs And other deadly additives in the meats breads, the high fructose corn syrup Which is in almost everything they make from Tomato ketchup to bread products to cereal, Soft drinks, And on and on! What kind of company would sell artificial lemonade and then turn around and put real lemons furniture polish? Processed foods that these markets sale ARE the major contributors to childhood /teenage and adult type two and type one diabetes dementia Alzheimer's you name it! At least Whole foods specializes in selling healthy products such as organic whole foods so they have other faults. But what kind of CEO or major Investor Would oversee the immoral unethical practice, these major food markets practice? And who Does this adversely affect? Minorities especially African Americans which leads the nation everything from low test scores to heart disease to type two diabetes, Obesity, to you name it. I tell you, The ACLU, & Civl rights leaders and the NAACP needs to stand up or who ever is anointed stand up, fight to/ and do something about This Public travesty. Let's not just single whole foods out for their shortcomings Get ALSO with the CEOs that ushered us into these public epidemics Through selling the public processed goods FOUR DECADES! I do acknowledge and say Hooray! for farmers markets and other small businesses that specialize in organic products.
