Let congress start with themselvesThe House and the Senate passes laws affecting Americans yet many of the laws don't affect them. Senate and House members pensions and insurance (entitlements) should be taken away. House and Senate members should pay into social security and pay for their health care like most Americans1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by RJ Juergens

End Foreign Fossil Fuel SubsidiesA fossil fuel subsidy is any government action that lowers the cost of fossil fuel energy production, raises the price received by energy producers or lowers the price paid by consumers. In the United States, credible estimates of taxpayer money invested in these subsidies range from $10 billion to $52 billion annually, and that's only from the United States itself. World oil subsidies have been credibly estimated at $409 billion in 2010. While money is poured into foreign countries to protect their oil supplies, funding for sustainable and home-grown fuels is minimal to none. The foreign oil industry is a finite industry. Oil is becoming more and more expensive to produce as costs for production, finding, and obtaining oil are rising. This will only cause a greater need for subsidies and more taxpayer money. Limiting the United States' dependence on foreign oils by putting subsidy funds toward development of dependable and sustainable fuels, will allow our economy as well as the environment, to also become dependable and sustainable.87 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Bradley Frieze

Congress must rescind latest pay raiseThis raise was slipped through, despite the terrible fiscal problems faced by middle income Americans at this time. Shame on our elected officials for voting themselves another salary increase, and double shame on Pres. Obama for allowing it to proceed.42 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Tess Silverman

Fair and Equal Tax ActEnsuring that everyone pays their fair share of taxes. I have been paying taxes for more than 50 years and I'm tired of the wealthy not paying their fair share. This petition would require Congress to define "Fair and Equitable Taxation" as 15% of gross income with no exemptions at all for anyone one. Its time the rich paid their fair share!!!11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lawrence F. Mazzuckelli

Fair ShareWarren Buffett is advocating higher taxes for the rich so they can "pay their fair share." Former President Bill Clinton proposed the idea of a wealth tax in the nineties. For example, Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi has an estimated wealth of over sixty million dollars. Our nation's debt needs our wealthiest one percent to pay their "fair share." Speaker Pelosi, Warren Buffett, and numerous other uber-rich need to pay a one-time tax of twenty to thirty percent without all the tax-avoidance games.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jeff Mark

INFLATION IS WORSE THAN I.R.S. TAXESIn U.S.A. wealthiest americans, businesses, and corporations refused to pay taxes and used the deductions and loopholes allowed in the I.R.S. tax code, but low income americans pay INFLATION taxes, sales taxes, gasoline taxes and State and local taxes that are not according to the income, and that it's unfair because the U.S. dollar has no buying power.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by GERARD A. Obama Just Gave Congress, Boehner and Biden a RaisePoor dears haven't had a raise since 2009. Now Biden, okay. But we can't agree to find ways to cut spending and the so-called "fiscal cliff" is looming large because everyone down there in Washington seems to be playing a game with our country, and Obama is rewarding these clowns with a raise? I got a measly $26/month in social security but Medicare cost was hiked $6/month. And these guys want to cut our benefits (that we paid for, by the way)!1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sharon Phelan

Revoke Congressional Pay RaiseWhat have they/you done to merit a raise? How many times has the regular employee heard: "We didn't make enough profit" or "Times are tough." or "We don't have the budget.". I've heard it in about a third of the 25 years I've been working. Time for Congress to hear it too!!2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Michael K. Kilkenny
