  • Mandate Employers To Disclose Reasons For Disqualified Job Applicants
Although there is legislation pending to forbid employment agencies or employer from listing qualifications that include "currently employed" as a criteria for hiring, unemployment status is still an unprotected class under employment discrimination laws. Furthermore, employers are not required to disclose the reasons why a job applicant may be disqualified or rejected from consideration beyond the standardized form letter that usually states, "other applicants more qualified", "more closely fit our needs", "we were impressed by your work experience, however..." , in addition they do not provide results of pre-assessment or pre-questionnaires taken in the process of applying for employment, and many times lack a contact name, phone number or reply e-mail address to a recruiter or staff dept. if an applicant wishes to inquire or challenge the disqualification or rejection notification. We need legislators to force employers to provide these reasons in order for potential employees to have an opportunity to have knowledge on how they may need to improve themselves for the next opportunity and for employers to be more considerate of the time consumed by the applicant, and adopt a fairness policy applicable to the selection process. This mandate will help relieve the suspicion that an applicant is not being considered due to age, gender, race , disability ,etc. and/or other employment discrimination. If an employer doesn't agree to provide this information then they should be subject to punitive laws that are applicable to employment discrimination. Too many unemployed people are not getting a fair shake or reason and it's time they did.

  • Pass the Stock Act!
The Stock Act has been milling around the U.S. Legislature for years collecting dust while waiting for members of Congress to sponsor and promote its passage. The Act is designed to prohibit any member of Congress from investing or divesting in stock based on inside information obtained while working on a committee, having attended other important decision-making meetings, etc. It is illegal for anyone else to buy or sell stock based on inside information, and it should be for Congress as well.

  • Governor McDonnell, Take a Balanced Approach to Fixing Virginia's Budget!
The Governor has slashed funding for schools, roads, healthcare, and first responders, and with another billion dollar shortfall he may try again. However, there is a better way: a balanced approach that includes bringing in new revenue by closing ineffective or inefficient loopholes will save jobs and protect our economy. We're calling on the Governor to take a balanced approach to this shortfall!

  • Create Jobs
Stop paying your bills online. Go back to mailing in payments. Consequently both big Banks and the US Post Office will have more work! Your payment and identity will be more secure. I created this petition to rally the working-middle class to support itself. A kind of "coporate disobedience" where the simple act of mailing a letter declares we stand our ground together.

  • Stop Foreclosures Now
STOP IT FROM HAPPENING TO YOU CitiMortgage approached me and offered me a "Home Affordable Modification" which decreased my house payments by $500 per month. After two years in this program and making all payments, I was notified that I did not qualify for the program and CitiMortgage wanted $25,000. Then, I contacted "Hope" and they made arrangements with me and CitiMortgage to have me go back to making my original payment before the reduction. Then, CitiMortgage sold my loan to Vericrest. Vericrest would not let me make a payment unless it was in the amount of $25,000. Since I unfortunately did not have $25,000 laying around, my loan was recorded with Sacramento county for foreclosure. Now I am once again having to spend money to fight them. How is this legal ? And what happened to truth and justice! Stop Foreclosures Now! This effects all of us. Please sign and share.

  • "COO" (country of origin) on every product
We need to be able to tell where any product originally is made, not just “Distributed by” so we can chose to buy American Produced products and bring jobs back to America! If we could tell where the product originated rather than the worthless “distributed by” we see on 75% of the products AND preference buying “ American”, manufacturers would have to move factories back to America! BUT, we can’t buy American if we don’t know where it was made!

  • Save the United States Postal Service
USPS management is proposing a drastic downsizing and service reduction. In part, it is due to an unreasonable requirement instituted by G.W. Bush through the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act of 2006, which requires the prefunding of retiree health benefits for 75 years within ten years. H.R. 1351 will relieve the some of the most unfair aspects of this legislation and refund to the USPS part of the current overpayment.

  • Let Seniors use the short tax form
Senior Taxpayers must slog through more than 100 pages of incomprehensible 1040 long form instructions or hire professional help, even if they do not claim any itemized deductions. THIS IS A TOTALY UNNECESSARY !! THE IRS SHOULD FOLLOW THE LEAD OF 15 STATES which allow seniors to use their short tax form when filing state income taxes. FIVE OF THESE STATES distribute free software for these simple state income tax forms, that can be used on any computer which automatically performs all mathematical functions, and compute the taxes due the state or the rebate due the taxpayer; _________________________
