Deandre Poole Ph.D. is a professor of communications at Florida Atlantic University in Davie and Boca Raton FL. In February 2013 a student was disruptive and then complained to the University when Poole offfered an exercise from a textbook "Intercultural Comunications: A Contextual Approach." In the exercise students wrote the name of Jesus on paper and then were asked to step on it. (The exercise had been used before without incident. When students refused to step on the name, it was a source of fruitful discussion.) In March, after public criticism, the University apologized and said the exercise would not be used again. But a local pastor has called for a protest march and an online campaign to fire Dr Poole. As Dr Poole's friends, we want to tell the University President and the Chancellor of the State University System of Florida that it would be dangerous to bend to such pressure. Please help us protect the separation of church and state, which protects us all.

Common Core is here/ coming to Connecticut. This dumbing down of standards impacts all of our children. It is a corporate/ government takeover of our education system that removes educational choices at the local level, and enslaves local schools to federal dollars.

PL 86-1256 passed January 01, 1991 amended the Illinois School Code requiring elementary and high schools to include in their curricula a unit of instruction on the events of Black History including contributions made by African Americans to certain development not only in the United Stated but also in Africa. CPS/CBOE has not complied with the law!

This Petition is to let teenagers in high schools & teachers use social networks to their learning experiences. 90 percent of teens have a profile on a social networking site. 69 percent of teens have a Facebook account. So why not use their social life & add their learning life into the mix as well? It'd make learning more interesting and fun for the teens, and more interactive.

Every year, Chicago Public Schools pays $35.7 million to Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, and other Big Banks in interest - money that those same banks got for free when they crashed the economy and WE bailed them out. The proposed school closings largely impact black schools, at a time when our communities need more support, not less. 1400 homeless youth are facing school closings. 2400 special-ed children with IEPs will be affected. 1/3 of all schools will be fed into lower-performing schools. CPS and Rahm Emanuel, stand with Chicago children, not with Wall Street. Paying Big Banks $35.7 million in interest every year is immoral. Demand the Big Banks renegotiate these toxic interest rate swaps, invest in our children, and keep our schools open!

The children of Camden, New Jersey deserve a quality education built on a solid academic foundation delivered by qualified, dedicated, and nurturing educators who believe they can succeed. The mission of Community Advancement Charter School is to create a challenging and nurturing environment which accelerates the progress of all students toward high achievement. We desire for all students to: master academic skills, master social emotional skills and develop and utilize their talents and abilities to positively impact the community.

This has been an open position since summer of 2012, leaving our children without scheduled positive programs. Riverhead is thriving and our children should not be left behind.

My daughter attends Kenova Elementary School, which had its building closed by the state of West Virginia in May 2011 due to a sink hole. The lease for the modular units currently housing the school expires in June 2014 and there is currently not a plan for a permanent school. Our children's education should be our top priority, and the state should take responsibility for their actions and build a new school for Kenova Elementary.

Continuing the Small School Model (3 separate schools) has proven to be a failure. Our children's education should be TOP PRIORITY, therefore the continuation of a failed model should be STOPPED.
