Say NO to the Juvenile Justice Center in North TulsaIn October, a group of concerned citizens told Karen Keith that we do not want the Juvenile Justice Center in North Tulsa. They found a group of pastors to sign on to the plan to build anyway - against the wishes of the community. Tell the commissioners once and for all, we do not want this type of "economic development" in North Tulsa!160 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Stacy Kamau

Rape=HateI am starting this petition because I am tired of rapists being given short, uneven and unproductive sentences for a crime that forever impacts the lives of their victims. The judicial system has never treated women's lives with the same importance as men's, and the classification of Hate Crime would give women the statistical (FBI) and criminal status along with other protected classes.23 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Maureen Lahey

Justice for the Stanford Rape VictimAs a former rape crisis advocate I am horrified at the slap on the wrist, a six-month jail sentence, that the Stanford rapist was issued. Twenty-year-old Brock Allen Turner was convicted by a jury of his peers of raping an unconscious, intoxicated 23-year-old woman behind a dumpster on Stanford's campus after a Kappa Alpha fraternity party. Turner stopped his assault when two male graduate students intervened. The fact that he is a white Stanford athlete should not grant him permission to get away with violence against women. Judge Aaron Persky only sentenced Turner to six months of jail time because of the "damage" that jail could do to him. He IS NOT the victim here. Tuner was charged with three felony counts, assault with intent to commit rape of an intoxicated or unconscious person, sexual penetration of an intoxicated person and sexual penetration of an unconscious person. These assaults have and will continue to cause his victim untold phyiscal and emotional damage. The victim addressed Turner at his sentencing: "Your life is not over; you have decades of years ahead to rewrite your story. The world is huge, it is so much bigger than Palo Alto and Stanford, and you will make a space for yourself in it where you can be useful and happy. But right now, you do not get to shrug your shoulders and be confused anymore. You do not get to pretend that there were no red flags. You have been convicted of violating me, intentionally, forcibly, sexually, with malicious intent, and all you can admit to is consuming alcohol. Do not talk about the sad way your life was upturned because alcohol made you do bad things. Figure out how to take responsibility for your own conduct." We call on the Palo Alto Courthouse to revisit Turner's sentencing to make his punishment fit the crime.1,779 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Laura Burns, MSW

Free Eugene SmallsSentenced to 90 years has already served 23 years first offense selling narcotics in Virginia all while in a wheelchair. This is a petition for justice, freedom and second chances. Who are we that we cannot give one another a second chance? We all have a responsibility to one another but that responsibility must be laid and decided on the basis of life, and not by the standards of one's view of life. I know to have a second chance you must have humility you must become humble and I believe in my heart and mind that Eugene Smalls has been humbled, having served 21 years in prison on a 90 year sentence all while in a wheelchair, on a first offense for selling drugs-a non-violent offense. He never harmed or committed any crime where there was a loss of life. This is beyond justice, and it can be viewed as cruel and unusual punishment.769 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Khalid Muhammad

Please Drop the Train Track Trespassing Charges. C-4 All 12.On May 20th, 2016, twelve people were arrested for taking a short cut through an open field that had no fence, and no visible "No Trespassing" sign, that led over train tracks to a sidewalk onto Australian Avenue. We are asking that the trespassing charges be dropped on all 12 that were arrested, who were 4 Journalists and 8 Anonymous activists. Not one person that came to peacefully protest for Justice for Corey Jones that day ever intended on breaking any laws, or to instigate any aggression or provoke law enforcement, which was obvious, since none resisted arrest. We ask that you please consider recommending these charges be dropped.331 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Janette Swanson

Inhumane heat conditions for guards and inmatesThe petition is about inhumane heat levels affecting guards and inmates and their families and friends. There'd be less deaths, less health conditions and less turn key in employees. As well as less law suits. If they can keep conditions at a certain temperature in the other seasons why is the summer any different, When this is the most crucial month in Texas.82 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Christina Yarbrough

Free Chelsea ManningI believe whistleblowers like Manning should be rewarded, not punished, for exposing crimes, like the unnecessary killing of civilians and journalists. The Obama administration has punished more whistleblowers than any other president. By commuting Manning's sentence, Obama can show he values honesty over suppression of the truth.570 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Sandra Folzer

MOTHERS JUSTICE MOVEMENT: Stop Minnesota Judges from forcing defenseless children to be harmed by...WE ARE PETITIONING FOR A STATEWIDE INVESTIGATION OF FAMILY COURT PRACTICES IN AN EFFORT TO STOP MINNESOTA JUDGES FROM HARMING INNOCENT DEFENSELESS CHILDREN. Minnesota residents are being bled of our most valuable resource, the innocence of a child, and because of which, we are slowly losing our grip on the future of America. Since 1998, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has continued a lengthy investigation into adverse childhood experiences (ACE). ACE is one of the largest medical investigations ever conducted to assess associations between childhood maltreatment and later-life health and well-being. They found that a child’s exposure to certain traumas, including domestic violence, child sexual abuse, or being separated from their primary care-giving parent, resulted in more illnesses and injuries to children in childhood through adulthood, i.e., social emotional and cognitive impairment; adoption of health-risk behaviors; disease, disability and social problems; and PREMATURE DEATH. This study demonstrates how a child’s exposure to these elements are a PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUE. Yet every year, an estimated 58,000 children are court ordered into custody or unsupervised visitation with a reported abuser. Additionally, current research estimates that false allegations of sexual abuse happens less that 2% of the time, yet 85% of those children are court ordered into shared or sole custody with the parent that is raping them. Inadequately trained professionals tend to believe the myth that mothers frequently make false allegations, contrary to current research. Therefore, in thinking they have the needed expertise, family court professionals don't listen to domestic violence or child abuse evidence, experts, and they don't include current scientific research. Mothers are being forced into bankruptcy and poverty trying to protect their children, and their children are being irreparably harmed. Governor Mark Dayton, House and Senate Representatives, we now have the medical research through the CDC to declare domestic violence, child abuse, and being separated from a primary attachment parent a PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUE. And the U.S. Department of Justice's Saunders report states that the STANDARD and REQUIRED domestic violence training received by judges, lawyers, and evaluators does not adequately prepare them to handle abuse cases. WE ARE PETITIONING FOR A STATEWIDE INVESTIGATION OF FAMILY COURT PRACTICES IN AN EFFORT TO STOP MINNESOTA JUDGES FROM HARMING INNOCENT DEFENSELESS CHILDREN. We would like to see you, our leaders, echo your constituents concerns, and ensure that the HEALTH AND SAFETY OF A CHILD WILL COME FIRST IN DIVORCE AND CUSTODY LITIGATION. We thank you in advance for your support.169 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Laura Dyer

Pres. Obama: Take Action against Violent PolicingFreddie Gray’s family and the people of Baltimore were denied justice by Judge Barry G. Williams' refusal to hold Baltimore Police Officer Edward Nero accountable for Gray’s death. There is an epidemic of racial bias, police violence, and a lack of accountability in our country's police forces. Please join us in calling on President Obama to crack down on violent and discriminatory policing by issuing an executive order to direct the DOJ to enforce our civil rights laws more aggressively.174 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Rashad Robinson
