(1) We support a law which states that all drivers be held equally responsible to all people - motorists AND cyclists. (2) We support a law that treats cyclists as weaker participants in traffic, which they are, but NOT less important than drivers. (3) We support a law that does not minimize or trivialize collisions as mere "accidents" where drivers are not held ACCOUNTABLE for damages to or deaths of cyclists. (4) We support education and public outreach to inform BOTH motorists and cyclists of the rules-of-the-road.

We are joining the efforts of Project Nia and Decarcerate Illinois and urging all Illinois residents to call on our State Legislature to oppose SB1342. SB1342 is a policy that criminalizes Black bodies as the source of gun violence in our communities. It does so at the expense of holding gun manufactures and sellers accountable. It will lead to more Black people incarcerated and not get at the root cause of violence within our communities, which is lack of social, economic and political resources.

The number of unarmed civilians and suspects dying by the same people who are supposed to "protect" and serve is becoming unbearable. Police officers should get the maximum penalty for killing anyone who is unarmed.

Corey Stingley is my son, and our family wants justice and the people who murdered him put into prison for their crime. Corey was attacked by three adult male customers and murdered after he returned some merchandise he was thinking about shoplifting once confronted by the store manager about having the items in a bookbag. The defendants choked Corey to death after he returned the merchandise.

"It is kidnapping," said the girl's father, Lou Pelletier. "It's beyond any wildest nightmare that you could think of." The clinical psychologist known by the family says, "It's the most bizarre situation ... I've ever been involved with."

Politicians, Law enforcement, and many others enjoy absolute immunity from suit for their wrong actions that result in harm to another person or group of persons. This statutory immunity prohibits an injured party from seeking redress for injuries sustained as a direct result of the actions of the person who has been granted immunity under that law. Thus creating a class or group of select persons who are declared by law to be above the law and free from either prosecution or suit solely on the basis of their position or office. This blanket immunity by law directly contradicts the constitutional precept that "all men are equal," and cannot be allowed to stand unchallenged within a democratic society.
