After 41 years, a group of protestors want the Memorial removed from a Coos Bay City park. When this memorial was dedicated, Vietnam Veterans Memorials were very few. The war was still going on. Protestors from around America were trashing Vietnam Veterans as baby-killers and village-burners. It is part of history. With a cross on it or not, it represents ALL Vietnam Veterans from across America. City Leaders will meat this week after Easter to decide on removing the cross memorial. President Obama signed a spending bill (HR 933) to avoid a government shutdown this week. However, in addition to paying the government's bills for another six months, HR 933 also included a Farmer Assurance Provision ("Monsanto Protection Act") that limits our legal rights while granting big agribusiness like Monsanto sweeping new protections for their little-studied GMO crops. Most notably, the quietly inserted provision strips federal courts of their authority to issue injunctions halting the production of GMO crops, including those known to pose real consumer health risks. And it all happened without a single hearing before the Agricultural or Judiciary Committees. We should not have to choose between a government shutdown and our right to food safety. In recent weeks, the Indiana Legislature has passed Laws that require Welfare Recipients to pass Drug Tests in order to receive Benefits. Comcast is a corportation that provides and operates cable, internet, and phone service. This company is one of the few companies that service the local areas:(Shreveport, Bossier, Minden, etc.). The best resource we have for a drowning victim is the closest lifeguard. Why is it that only a select few are notified of water rescues? If safety is our top priority then all town and village employed Lifeguards willing to respond to water rescues should be notified of water rescue near them.

We are a nation with problems. One of these problems lies in the ability of corporations like Monsanto to throw vast sums of money at Congress to bend the law to fit an underhanded scheme. Tell Congress that we have had enough- consumers deserve the right to know if what they are eating contains under-researched GM food substances-- after all, it is your right to know what you put in your body. With all of the thousands of flights that happen every day, animals die. Wouldn't those eggs be better with some fresh fruit than an anemic piece of meat? Certainly humans can go 6 hours or less without eating meat.
