It seems like the majority of Americans voted for Obama, and newly elected senators to bring democracy to all. When will Republicans stop bullying women and minorities in America? It's time to take a stand and have U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice's back. Obama has not even picked his cabinet, and now senators John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Kelly Ayotte are defaming the Ambassadors character. Take a stand with me, please.

Last year, Mercy for Animals uncovered horrendous abuse of turkeys at a Butterball plant in Hoke County. They swore it would never happen again, but now, there are four more Butterball plants doing the same thing! Not trusting that Butterball would keep its word to enforce a "zero tolerance policy" on animal abuse, Mercy for Animals investigated plants this fall and discovered severe infractions in facilities in Sampson, Duplin, Onslow, and Lenoir counties. They have videos of turkeys with open festering wounds left untreated as well as broken bones. Workers are seen kicking and stomping the birds and throwing them around by their necks. This is a disgusting treatment of birds that is completely unnecessary. These are living, breathing creatures! Hoke county police have already arrested workers for animal cruelty, but Butterball needs to step up and make sure this never happens again. The intersection of Packard Ave and Powderhouse Boulevard in Somerville has seen too many pedestrian injuries. On the night of November 8th, 2012, a Tufts student was hospitalized. Motorists routinely exceed the speed limit on Powderhouse because poor design makes them feel it's safe to do so. Let's show the City of Somerville and Tufts University that this matters to our community. Despite the traffic calming measures that have been put in place, as of November 19th, there is still more work to be done. NEW: What the intersection now needs is either a four-way stop or a Walk/Don't Walk signal that is activated by pedestrians seeking to cross Powderhouse. After the traffic calming measures that have been put in place, this is the next step. Possible construction is tentatively scheduled for spring of 2013. Safety around campus should be pressing, and a sense of urgency should be behind these decisions. Please work to make these changes swiftly.

Tell Congress to pass a law that, groups listed as hate groups should not be allowed a 501c3 charity status. Ministers like Scott Lively are spreading their message of "hate the Gays" throughout the world. Uganda is about to pass a bill that will put Gay men and Women to death.

Caffeine Free Coke Zero is only available in a few countries like France, Japan and the Neatherlands. It's about time it came to the USA and Canada.
