There are tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of Veterans that are retired and also with a disability from the Armed Forces and are being denied "Concurrent Pay". The V.A. may give a soldier $600 in disability BUT then they take $600 out of their retirement checks despite the veterans being limited by health. Almost every Senator and Congressman knows about this "Concurrent Pay" issue. However, they keep wrapping the legislation with other controversial legislation. Thus, it winds up defeated. And, lately, Sen. Reid is not allowing the Senate version to come to the floor for debate and a vote.

The intent of LD 145 is to prevent mortgage companies from foreclosing on properties they may not own. It was passed with bipartisan support in both the Maine House and Senate. I think it's about time the Auto and Cell phone industry do something about the use of cell phones and mobile devices while driving. I'm tired of being put in danger so someone can text their girlfriend or check their e-mail. And if you honk at them because they're drifting into your lane, they get mad at you like it's your fault. And as far as emergency personnel is concerned, isn't that why they have two-way radios. Just because someone is a police officer shouldn't give them the right to blatenly abuse the law and talk to their wife or friend on a cell phone while on duty and driving. Banning the use of cell phones in cars will make everyone safer, period.
