  • Preserving Benefits To Protect Our Most Vulnerable Citizens
This issue affects all of us either right in this moment or in the near future. Someone each of us knows will suffer from cuts to Social security benefits. We can not compromise on the small amount comparatively spent on Social Security rather than trimming defense or asking the very wealthy to shoulder their share or at least a larger portion of their fair share. Please move this petition forward.

  • We can't cut Social Security
We can't have cuts to Social Security. Many people like myself live on Social Security along, and we would all be greatly affected with cuts to cost of living increases in Social Security..

  • Cuts to Social Security
Those on Social Security certainly do not need a cut in benefits. Many now have to make a choice between food and medication. Why do we take from the poor and elderly in our society and not tax the wealthy appropriately. This should not even be up for discussion and should be off the table for any type of discussion.

  • Social Security/Medicare protection amendment
Paul Ryan is trying to take social security away from people who have paid into the system for many years. President Obama is considering changes to the system as an option to negotiate with Ryan and others. This should be a violation of law as many people are unable to save more for retiremtent and have no choice but to rely on Social Security and Medicare. This is a binding legal contract and no government official should have the ability to change any aspect of it. Younger people, who have not contributed enough to qualify for benefits have other options but those of us in our 50's have limited ability because we have been forced to pay into a system which is now under attack by both republicans and democrats alike. Simply put, anyone (like me) who has contributed suffidcient funds into Social Security and Medicare and have recieved a statement from said administration declaring that they have contributed enough to qualify for benefits, would have that statement considered to be a binding legal contract, which cannot be changed in any way, by anyone, including congrss and the President.

  • Oppose Social Security Cuts Compromise
President Obama has offered the Republicans a compromise Social Security cuts deal that would cut Social Security benefits by more than 5% and leave in place some of the Bush tax cuts for the top 2% of the wealthiest U.S. citizens. This means that people like me depending upon Social Security for survival would suffer critical cuts in benefits that provide food, medicines, and other essentials.

  • Do not cut Social Security
I depend on my Social Security benefits, and there are many more people like me. They say people are living longer so they could raise the age when benefits are received. The problem is, it is the wealthy who live longer, not the poor and middle class. Protect our safety net.

  • President Obama: Keep your campaign promises. Do not cut Social Security
President Obama gave his word multiple times that cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid were off the table in negotiating with Republicans. Despite having the upper hand in negotiations, he has made an offer to John Boehner and the Republicans that is contrary to his repeated promises to the American people. Sign my petition to the President and ask him to be be accountable to his word, and also do what the majority of Americans wish him to do and NOT cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. Our seniors deserve better than this. Cutting their benefits in order to protect the wealthiest among us is immoral. President Obama: YOU MUST KEEP YOUR PROMISES!

  • no cuts to Social Security
I am on Social Security Benefits. This program has been paid for by the people that worked for a lifetime and paid into the program year after year. It is not an entitlement program. The cost of living raises help to keep up with the increasing cost of living. The average benefit of 15K is poverty level. Please do not make life more difficult for us seniors.Leave Social Security alone.

  • I get social security and am disabled. STOP cutting our benefits!!!
I have personally been affected with the zero to a paltry 16 dollar increase, which does nothing for the cost of living and survival. The government needs to stop borrowing and stealing from medicare and social security and start obeying the constitution and allow us disabled people to have our necessary benefits. Quit making us suffer for the wars you start and create, and for the costly mistakes YOU make. We are NOT making those mistakes and choices, so quit making us pay for them~
