  • Name the KSU campus green after John R. Lewis
John Lewis fought for Civil Rights throughout his entire life. He was one of the "Big 6" organizers for the March on Washington, the Chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee in the 60s, and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama in 2011. Congressman Lewis marched, sat in, and did whatever he could to push forward the cause for civil rights. His legacy still impacts the US and the world today. John Lewis took his fight to Congress on behalf of the people of Georgia, where he represented Georgia's 5th Congressional District for over 20 years. He worked to ensure all Georgians were taken care of and our university should honor the late John Lewis with the naming of the John Robert Lewis Green, which will be known to students as the "Lewis Green" or "John Lewis Green". Tell the KSU administration to support this proposal and naming of the green after the late John Lewis by signing this petition.

  • Demanding Excellence from USPS
First Class Mail continues to provide an affordable and secure method of communication for millions of Americans. The Delivering for America Plan diverts resources and equipment away from letter processing to prioritize package services. This betrays the mission of the Postal Service to be a vehicle for communication that binds the nation together chasing profits for the private companies that are proposed to handle mail in the expanded implementation of Surface Transfer Centers. Diverting mail outside the Postal network is already creating service delays and increasing the incidents of lost mail as the Postal Service no longer maintains custody of mail throughout the delivery process. Individuals, small businesses, and local governments rely on First Class Mail to exchange information and ideas, receive remittance payments, or issue legal notices. Allowing Postmaster General DeJoy to bull doze the implementation of these changes past the public will forever alter the network that has been built to provide the excellence that has become synonymous with First Class. Do not settle for adequate when the opportunity for excellence is still attainable. Demand more!

  • Sign the Petition: Facebook must do more for our democracy
The Facebook Oversight Board just made a major decision that exposes serious flaws in the way that Facebook operates. And if we want the social media giant to make real changes to protect its users -- we must speak out right now. The Oversight Board has officially upheld Facebook’s decision to suspend Donald Trump’s account. But board members gave an important caveat: they found that making the suspension “indefinite” was inappropriate -- and within six months, Facebook must decide whether to ban Trump permanently or let him back on the platform. The simple fact is: we did not have to get to this point, had Facebook just implemented thorough civic integrity policies -- and committed to strongly and unilaterally enforcing them. But before, during, and after the 2020 election, Facebook constantly looked the other way when Trump and other bad actors abused the site to spread lies and amplify hate speech. Disinformation on Facebook and other social media platforms has silenced voters, weakened trust in our civic institutions, and even incited real-world violence -- like the horrific January 6th attack on our Capitol. But Facebook has yet to show that it’s up to the task of consistently using its policies to protect its own users For the sake of our democracy and the safety of the American people, Facebook must strengthen its civic integrity policies and close dangerous loopholes -- like the exception that allows political figures to put blatant disinformation in their ads. And the platform must stop relying on its Oversight Board -- a wholly inadequate body that is accountable to Mark Zuckerberg, not the public -- to make its content moderation decisions. Plus, Facebook must start vigorously enforcing the policies it has already put in place to protect voters. That means consistently applying misinformation labels to inaccurate posts, cracking down on groups that glorify violence and amplify conspiracy theories, and more. It’s time to demand better from this powerful social media giant. If you believe that Facebook must be held accountable for failing our democracy -- and must commit to protecting it going forward -- add your name today.

  • Nevada needs a public health insurance option
Even before the pandemic, 1 in 7 Nevadans did not have health insurance. Layoffs and business closures have made this problem worse. We must take action and pass the Nevada Public Option to ensure that every Nevadan has better access to affordable, quality healthcare. A public option would save Nevada families on their premiums and out-of-pocket costs by leveraging the state’s bargaining power to negotiate lower prices for healthcare services and prescription drugs. A public option will increase the amount of compensated care in rural Nevada, providing much needed funding for our state’s rural hospitals. The Nevada public option will lower insurance premiums and help more Nevadans get the critical care they need, when they need it.

  • Support the staff at All Creatures Animal Hospital
To the All Creatures Animal Hospital (ACAH) community of pet parents, rescue organizations, and those who value the role of the local veterinarian in their community, We are veterinary support staff at ACAH. But we are also all pet parents and members of the community. When we walk through the door of our local veterinary hospital seeking care for our furry, feathered, and scaled family members, we also want to see familiar faces who we know we can trust. We feel relief knowing dedicated veterinary staff are only a phone call away when our pets are in need, no matter the species. We understand and appreciate that work requires skills and knowledge and we all want to be assured that the most qualified individuals are caring for our pets. The veterinary profession is rewarding and challenging. For many of us, this is our dream career. We are here because we love helping animals, and providing support to the people who love and care for them. Unfortunately, our profession has long been plagued with burn-out, compassion fatigue, and other systemic issues. The average length of time a veterinary support staff member stays in the field is only 3-5 years. These receptionists, kennel staff, veterinary assistants, and licensed veterinary technicians have valuable on-the-job training and/or traditional education. Many of these highly skilled and educated individuals are forced to choose between their own mental and physical health and doing the job they love. The ongoing loss of such knowledge, and the constant retraining of new staff, leads to a decline in the quality of patient care and a further increase in burn-out for those who remain. We are working to change this trend. We know that patient care is at its best when devoted and skilled individuals are at the forefront, and that can only happen when we are supported by industry leadership with the tools we need to be successful, including: - Fair pay and compensation - Decent and affordable healthcare - Adequate sick leave and paid time off to care for ourselves and our families - Mental health support - Assurances that our own beloved pets will receive quality care - Sustainable staffing and scheduling - Improved staff retention programs - Robust safety measures to protect staff from workplace hazards (including safe COVID protocols) Since the purchase of our beloved hospital, ACAH, by the Cara Corporation in May of 2020, these resources have been cut, threatened, or simply not provided at all. The corporation promised these things and more (most of which we had before the purchase, under our previous ownership). The intention was for ACAH to continue to provide high quality care to its patients as well as open opportunities for employee growth and even better patient care. We are devastated that this has become our reality instead. As the staff of ACAH, we are the bridge between the Cara Corporation and our patients. We are fighting for our rights and to continue our ability to give the high quality care you and your pets deserve. In addition to staff support, we were promised that the Cara Corporation shared the values that we hold dear. The staff and our patients were never supposed to become just numbers: those we serve were to remain the highest priority. After many attempts to discuss our concerns with the Cara Corporation were ignored, we have decided to partner with the National Veterinary Professionals Union and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union to organize our hospital so that the Cara Corporation will be required to negotiate over these issues. Our goal in this fight is to retain our autonomy, to maintain our vision of animal healthcare, and to care for the health of our families. Unionizing will give us the right to be involved in policy, ensuring that conditions remain fair to all involved and that patient care - not just profit - is central to the hospital’s mission. Our goal is to feel safe and heard and to have a stable environment where we can give you - our clients and our patients - everything we have. We will protect our patients and their care from becoming the bottom line. We will retain our authenticity. We will stop the disintegration of our caring staff. The Cara Corporation rejected our request to voluntarily recognize our union and we will soon be holding a union election (with the National Labor Relations Board) secure our union and solidarity to fight for each other. The Cara Corporation is fighting our right to organize by hiring a notorious union-busting law firm, wasting valuable resources that could be spent ensuring the best care possible for your pets. These actions are disrespectful to us and our vision, and also to YOU, the pet parent. Please show the ACAH staff how important we are to you and to our community. Your signature will strengthen our resolve, giving us a strong foundation on which to stand and fight together for what is important. All Creatures Animal Hospital is not a place, it is its people, and the clients and patients we serve are our hearts. Thank you for your support.

  • End the pandemic and save lives by suspending vaccine patents!
Right now we are watching a devastating catastrophe unfold. India is in the midst of the worst wave of coronavirus infections we have ever seen. India is also one of the world's biggest vaccine manufacturers. But because of patent rules, they are unable to make their own versions of the vaccines that many Americans are now able to easily obtain. In October, India and South Africa proposed that the World Trade Organization (WTO) waive intellectual property laws for Covid vaccines through the end of the pandemic, which would allow generic pharmaceutical companies to make additional vaccine doses and sell them to middle- and lower-income countries at a lower cost. Nearly 100 of these countries supported this proposal, while the US, the UK, and the EU, among others, opposed it. The world’s wealthiest nations have administered 86% of all Covid-19 vaccines to date. Meanwhile, lower-income countries, which account for 80% of the world’s population, have only been at 0.1%. This is unacceptable. Will you tell President Biden to help end the pandemic by waiving vaccine patents and scaling up global vaccine production?

  • Sign the Petition: NO gerrymandering in 2021
Now that the 2021 redistricting process has officially begun, we must speak out right now to stop partisan politicians from drawing rigged, unfair maps. Because if we don’t, some power-hungry politicians will abuse their control of the process and draw gerrymandered maps -- resorting to despicable tactics like “packing and cracking” to limit the political influence of Black and Brown voters and protect incumbents from competition. That’s not how our democracy is supposed to work. Voters should choose their elected officials, not the other way around. And any efforts by politicians to interfere with the process -- by using data that was not intended for redistricting or drawing rigged maps that ignore communities’ voices -- can’t be swept under the rug. That’s why we are flipping the script this cycle -- putting communities, not politicians at the center of the process. Whether your state’s districts are drawn by the legislature or by an independent commission -- mapmakers need to hear loud and clear that We the People will not be excluded from the redistricting process or silenced by gerrymandering. That also means making sure that only the best, most precise population data available is used, which comes from the 2020 Census. Using another source, especially one that was not designed for drawing maps -- or conducting the entire process behind closed doors -- only creates further opportunities to gerrymander and abuse power. These maps will shape our state legislatures and Congress for the next ten years. We cannot afford to let politicians draw deeply partisan and racially divisive districts that deprive voters of the chance to elect someone who shares their lived experiences. If you agree, add your name today.

  • Where is the Global Vaccine Rollout? WAIVE Patent Rights Temporarily!
Failure to vaccinate the world put us all at risk. We are not safe until all of us are safe. Waiving the patent rights would allow every country the right to produce Covid-19 generic vaccines. We have to remember that there were countless unnecessary deaths during the AIDS/HIV epidemic in many countries and continents like Africa because of the pharmaceutical companies' property patent rights. Let's not make that mistake again. The waiver of these patent rights will give the vaccine technology to those countries in greatest need. These vaccines saves lives and everyone should have a right to have access to them. Over 100 countries have signed on the World Trade Organization's plan to waive the Covid-19 vaccine patent rights. Tell President Biden to sign on too! Time is of the essence to save lives and to make us all safe.

  • Investigate Foul Play at SUNY Buffalo State College- Missing College Student-Saniyya Dennis
Saniyya Dennis is an Honor Student, She did not miss Work, She did not miss School. Saniyya is a high achiever, she communicates with family regularly so it was not in her character to abruptly cut communication. Saniyya takes school and her job on Campus very serious. A protest was going on about racial injustices on campus before Saniyya went missing. Clarence Shepard, a black student was profiled and brought up on Code of Conduct Violations that were later thrown out after a hearing. He wasn’t able to sleep well for several nights because of the trauma that came along with it. In Addition, an Instructor mentioned on video she was tired of hearing about BLM ( A group centered to address the issues of black people). This story was published on 04/20/2021 Https://www.wgrz.com/article/news/local/student-protestors-demand-that-racially-charged-incidents-are-addressed-at-Buffalo-state/71-b99c682d-12dd-4dde-9ae7-28de146a8cce Knowing these details gives cause to further investigate in the case of a Black Missing College Student who took education serious. With just days after a protest for racial injustices on the Campus, and the probability of discussions lingering amongst students, Foul Activity could have been at play here. Saniyya Dennis was Last seen in the Elevator on Campus 04/24/2021 and wearing what seems to be a mask with the school logo. Saniyya appeared to be wearing a hoodie and open sneakers. Given the time range she was on the elevator between 10:30pm-11pm, and the way she was dressed, does not appear she was going far distance on foot.

  • Radioactive Roads? No thanks!
Two bills moving through the legislature, HB1144 and SB534, would roll back rules for conventional drillers in PA. Versions of these bills have failed in the past. This time, one especially concerning provision is worse than it was last time. The bills allow for the road spreading of drilling waste. Last time, it was proposed to be used as a dust suppressant on unpaved roads. This time, it could also be used on both unpaved and paved roads for road stablization, anti-icing, and de-icing.
