• Connecticut State Senate: Raise the Minimum Wage!
In the State of the Union, President Obama called on Congress to raise the minimum wage and to tie it to inflation. This is a huge step -- minimum wage workers have been falling behind for decades. Raising the minimum wage and tying it to inflation will ensure we don't leave them behind in the future. Here in Connecticut, we know we can't wait for John Boehner and Mitch McConnell to agree. We need the State Senate to take the first step. It's time to raise the minimum wage. Sign our petition to tell the State Senate to raise the minimum wage and tie it to inflation!

  • "Creating Local Jobs for Local People by Increasing Exports"
We can create export jobs by identifying what other countries need from the ground up instead of what they need from the top down. Our team has been successful in other countries but we can succeed in Ohio beyond our wildest dream. We need the help from our state government and our Ohio citizens to join us. • Extend Medicaid to include dental
Everone has a right to good dental hygiene, it is an intregal part of good health. The problem is Medicaid only covers children. I am a disabled senior ,I used to have coverage for dental but since moving to Missori in 2009 I have had non. Consequently I have had to have three savable teeth pulled as I could not afford crowns and I have had two crowns break off that I cannot replace. Bad teeth can permeate your body with infection and cause excruciating pain. Good dental care should be considered 'preventive care' the lack of basic dental care can cause many other illnesses.

  • Restore Cuts to Child Care Assistance
The Administration of Governor Steve Beshear plans to dramatically cut child care assistance in the state of Kentucky beginning on April 1, 2013. This program helps working parents and caregivers pay for child care so they can work and go to school. Thousands of children will be impacted as parents turned to unlicensed care or have to quit their jobs. Hundreds of child care centers are also likely to close, laying off their staff at a time when jobs are still scarce.

  • Tell the FDA: Keep GE Salmon Out of Our Food Chain
KEEP FRANKENFISH OUT OF OUR FOOD CHAIN. During the holidays, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) took a controversial step toward approving the first-ever genetically-engineered fish made for human consumption. These fish are the spawn of a company called AquaBounty Technologies and are engineered in foreign laboratories to grow twice as fast as natural Atlantic salmon. And if that’s not scary enough, the FDA isn’t even planning on thoroughly studying all the environmental risks presented by these Frankenfish before giving the green light to AquaBounty. This means these Frankenfish will be produced on a commercial scale before anyone knows what damaging impacts they may have if they invade our most sensitive natural marine environments. The FDA wants to be able to save these crucial questions for a later time, but these questions need to be answered now, before it’s too late.

  • Congress Must Surrender Benefits
Since Congressional member wish to put Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid on the 'chopping block', they must first surrender the very generous benefits given to them by their constituents, the American people. The Congressional benefits are not 'entitlements' as the Congress people do not contribute to them - rather the public does. If they start there, then we can think about the rest.

  • Constitutional Amendment to Protect Environment, Biodiversity
Some countries have environmental protection as a main concept in their consitution. America has seen the extinction of several species of flora and fauna and the decimation of biodiversity and the pollution of air and waters. In America's past, poor environmental policy helped lead to the eugenics movement in the early 20th Century as more people were seen to cause just more pollution. Out of respect for indigenous America, to help stop Hate Crimes, it would be ethical to have an amendment to better protect America's environment. This would lead to better environmentally-friendly jobs, and help protect America's future. Panama has a strong environmental policy, and the USA broke it during the Vietnam War when they tested Agent Orange in Panama. The USA needs a better environmental outlook.

  • Shut down Puppy and Kitty Mills in NC
North Carolina has become the puppy mill state since there are no laws on the books to regulate private sellers in their homes. I am a responsible pet owner and believe that all animals have the right to live in a safe and sanitary and LOVING HOME. There are more than enough pets to rescue without breeding them!! The director of the NC chapter American Dog Owner's Association was on the news the other day saying that he doesn't support these laws because it might cost too much for a "responsible" breeder to comply with the laws. I believe until we get the homeless population of dogs, (and cats for that matter), under control we should have very strict regulations on breeding pets.
