• Stand up for the working class
I feel very strongly that Governor jerry Brown should not be going to giant corporations and asking them what regulations they would like to eliminate Gov Brown was elected by progressives and he should be asking the working class what he can do to help them not siding with giant corporations in an attempt to make the lives of the working class more difficult .

My son and daughter-in-law have $140,000 in student loans. He is working at Home Depot part time. It's the only job he can find. Get this, they are hiring 55 new people for the store he works in. No one is allowed to work more than 24 hours so Home Depot doesn't have to offer benefits. The student loan debt is killing them.

  • Speaker Boehner: Condemn Rep. Rohrbacher's hateful anti-immigrant attack against DREAMer Jessica ...
18-year old DREAMer Jessica Bravo was visiting Rep. Dana Rohrbacher (R-CA) last week to talk about immigration reform. But when Jessica mentioned that she was undocumented, Rohrbacher let loose - yelling about how he "hate[s] illegals," chasing her out of the room, and threatening "now I know where you live." Disagreeing about issues is one thing, but nobody deserves to be attacked by the person elected to represent them. There is NO room for this kind of hate in our halls of power! As Speaker of the House, the buck has to stop with John Boehner. He needs to make clear whether he stands against this behavior or will tacitly endorse it.

  • Vote "Yes" for VAWA and S47!
Native American Women and Children are seriously vulnerable to attack on Tribal Lands by non-Native Drug Dealers and Sexual Predators. As the Law stands now only Federal Courts can prosecute these perpetrators and there is rarely follow through. Knowing this we call upon the House to open the way for Tribes and the Dept. of Justice to work together to protect our Families!

  • Endorse Modified Wrestling Program for Highland Youth
Wrestling gives youth an outlet to expend energy in an organized sport and teaches lessons that can be translated into other aspects of life. Wrestling helps develop life skills that encourage and build strength in self-esteem, leadership and work ethic. Wrestling tests one’s strength and physical ability which is innate and fun! Our youth need an opportunity to experience these values and traits that are enhanced by wrestling. A modified wrestling program would benefit our kids greatly because: • Anybody can wrestle – wrestling doesn’t discriminate. No matter your body type – height or weight – there is a place for you in wrestling. So you’re never too small or too big to participate. • No cuts due to lack of talent or skill. One’s strength and physical ability with determination is all that is needed. • Discipline – work ethic, focus and concentration are all traits learned, because it is a one on one sport, unlike other team sports where you wait for a ball to come to you. • Success has more to do with investment made rather than the natural gift one is given. • Provides a sense of belonging, self-confidence and pride. • Currently basketball is the only winter sports option for our youth. If you are not one of the few kids to make the basketball team, then there is no other modified winter sport for kids to participate in.

  • Help NYC Ban Plastic Foam Packaging
New York City Mayor Bloomberg wants to ban plastic foam food packaging because, as he said, it is "virtually impossible to recycle and never bio-degrades." New York must deal with about 20,000 tons of plastic foam waste every year, costing taxpayers and the environment.
