  • Help The Mentally Ill Become More Productive
The mentally ill community is often considered incompetent and detrimental to society however; this community can be a productive part of society reason being it consists of those who are high functioning. These intelligent people are able to contribute to their community in various ways. For example, working off debts they have created from their debtors, volunteering, working less hours or part-time to keep stress levels low, construction (holding the stop or slow signs) filing, counsel others, share their stories, run support groups, run and maintain their group homes, cleaning services etc., and supervised back into the workforce as capable and rational human beings. Therefore, I urge our state & federal government to stop sending them to the government funded program that teaches them skills they will never use. Instead, assess their ability and provide them with training and the opportunity to use the skills they have acquired. Otherwise, how will we know this community is getting better if there is no standard to which their progress is measured? Those who suffer from mental illness are not completely inept and can be given responsibility and a reason to fulfill their God given purpose for living. The outcome can only be greater self-worth and a more effective society. This will promote optimal mental health in this community so that they can continue to function at their highest level developing a better mental, physical, and social well-being. Let’s not feed them medication along with an empty life because these contribute to their dysfunction. Dysfunctions like being a menace to society, stigmatized thru gun violence, suicide, homelessness or involvement in cults. Instead we want them to become a functional part of society thru increase cognitive therapy, low dose medication and productivity. Please sign my petition.

  • Reform Congressional Health Care Benefits
My health care insurance is too costly, inadequate for my needs, and poorly managed by the provider. Members of Congress have made a political fight out of Health Care Reform, because they don't have to deal with the consequences. All U. S. House Members, Senators and their dependents get free and complete health care for life, paid for with our tax dollars, even after they leave office. If Congress members had to deal with the same health care chaos and inflated medication prices as all other Americans, they would be well motivated to improve the system for everyone.

  • Gun control
I truly believe we need experience police officers in all our schools, along with security officers. I also believe that assualt weapons should be only use by our police department, and military, and no mental retarded person, or private home need this type of weapon. So let's us as Mississippians pass the bill which president Obama has presented for all States with stricter laws.

  • Reduce the Culture of Violence
I have two ideas for some one to consider. You guys will have to do the work I don't have time. 1. Limit the TV News coverage these "mass shooters" receive, that's half their deal, to go down in history and make a big splash. 2. While you can't fight the 1st and 2nd Amendments, you could create a Task Force to administer a "Non-violent Movie and Computer Game" incentive for Hollywood and the Gaming Industry. Create a 10 million prize for the 'best' in a 'Movie' and a 'Game' category for best Non-violent movie or game. If you can't ban it or fight it, turn it around, create an incentive for what you want to see, for a new direction! There are already so many semi automatic weapons on the black market, a new ban simply will NOT prevent a 'nutcase' from getting a hold of one. Somebody sent this to President Obama, would ya? Sincerely, Justin Mizany [email protected]

  • Regulate the sale of ammunition
With 300 million guns already on our streets, current proposals to close the gun show loophole and ban assault style weapons and large magazine clips are necessary but insufficient steps to curbing gun violence. Also needed is the regulation of ammunition sales.

  • Wisconsin Does Not Want to Become a Right-to-Work State
Keep Wisconsin a strong union-friendly state. Right-to-work laws weaken the unions, and it has been known for decades that right-to-work states have lower wages and lesser-quality benefits and a lower standard of living than states with a strong union legacy, such as Wisconsin. You only need to look at the poverty rampant in states like Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana, states with strong right-to-work laws, to see how bad right-to-work is for the citizens and the state economies. States like Wisconsin with strong pro-labor histories have higher wages, better benefits, and a higher standard of living for their citizens than their right-to-work counterparts. This is not union propaganda, but established fact. We do not want to follow in the steps of Michigan and have right-to-work rammed down our throats in the dead of night.
