Mass murders of 20 Newtown kids and 6 adults. Must enact legislation now for maximum support

Amend the United States Constitution to repeal the Second Amendment which has become an impediment to the public safety. Allow the States to regulate weapons and arms in accordance with their constitutions and laws. Allow the Federal Government to adopt such national gun control laws and restrictions as may be needed for the public good.

Reinstituting and strengthening the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban so military style pistols and rifles and multiple bullet magazines are prohibited in the civilian market.

Responsible gun owners should drop out of the NRA and form a responsible, sane, gun organization.

The NRA vows to fight all gun restriction. Obviously, they have their heads in the sand, which makes me wonder how they can hit any target with this kind of thinking. The politicians who have been bought by the NRA need to be voted out.

Even President Obama and too many Democrats appear willing to cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid benefits as part of a "grand bargain" to avoid the "fiscal cliff" despite the fact that these are bare bones safety net programs that hard working taxpaying people pay specific taxes for and, if necessary, are willing to increase so that in this richest country in the world our elderly can live their final days in relative comfort and basic dignity.
