• Repeal the right to work law in florida
The right to work law, gives employers the right to exploit workers, denying them the right of union representation and puts the workers completely at the mercy of the employer. I worked at a secure mental health facility and the facility was due to move to another site miles away, they also wanted to shed some of the staff but did not want to lay them off or fire them because they did not want to pay out for doing so therefore they decided to make the lives of some of the employers so un-bearable that they would quit of their own accord. I have a degree and one day the supervisor told me and another colleague to go outside in the blazing sun and sweep the front of the facility which was half the size of a football field with a broom of course we refused and felt we had no choice to quit right there and then, there plan worked, we had no recourse because of the"Right to work law" in Florida made sure of it.

  • Marijuana Classification
Currently Marijuana aka (Cannabis) is classified as a Class #1 drug that means it is as harmful as heroin, LSD, and ecstasy and has no medical benefits. Lets change the Classification for this plant; because that’s what it is, a plant, and bring common sense to the picture to differentiate the difference between drugs that are chemically made and those that are naturally grown from Earth. This petition is to change the current classification from Class I to Class III, IV or V due to the medical benefits of Cannabis. Changing the classification for Marijuana is just the first step! • Allow voting registration up to and including election day in all states
This petition would allow the maximum number of citizens to vote. This year my application was denied on the cutoff date. Having a pre-election cutoff date too far in advance of an election may prohibit many qualified individuals from having the opportunity to vote. Hospitalizations, child-care issues, natural disasters, etc. all can cause a delay in registering ahead of time. This year, people were allowed to register on election day in areas affected by hurricane Sandy. This means the technology exists. This option should be available for everyone NOW.

  • America Cannot Be Great Without Election Reform - NOW!
Across the country on election day, voters went to the polls expecting to exercise their civic duty. Most succeeded. But many came away frustrated by language barriers and invented rules, exhausted from standing for hours in long lines, and, in some cases, disenfranchised. In Pennsylvania, a voting machine changed a resident's vote from Obama to Romney. In South Florida, voters waited in excess of seven hours. In Virginia, Obama campaign workers documented the long lines in case voters were turned away once the polls closed. By the end of election night, hours after victory was in hand, President Barack Obama had the voting problem on his mind. "I want to thank every American who participated in this election," he said in his speech to supporters in Chicago. "Whether you voted for the first time or waited in line for a very long time." As the crowd roared, Obama declared: "By the way, we have to fix that." Mr. President, here are 11 common sense ways we can fix that. These are simple measures that anyone, no matter whether you're a Democrat, a Republican or anywhere else on the political spectrum - can agree to.

  • CalArts Divests to Impress
Dear President Lavine, Vice President Matthewson, The CalArts Board of Trustees, and The CalArts Board of Overseers, Climate change is accelerating. We are witnessing the increasing impacts of a warming planet more and more consistently; in this last year alone our country experienced record-breaking heat, droughts, and hurricanes, which impacted hundreds of thousands of people and cost our country hundreds of billions of dollars. Hurricane Sandy alone caused $50bn in damages. Experts agree that global warming caused by humans burning fossil fuels will continue to accelerate and intensify these tragic climate disasters. The scientific consensus is clear and overwhelming; we cannot safely burn even half of global fossil-fuel reserves without dangerously warming the planet for several thousand years. As public pressure to confront climate change builds, we call on The California Institute of the Arts to immediately freeze any new investment in fossil-fuel companies, and to divest within five years from direct ownership and from any commingled funds that include fossil-fuel public equities and corporate bonds. We believe such action on behalf of CalArts will not only be a sound decision for our institution’s financial portfolio, but also for the wellbeing of its current and future graduating classes, who deserve the opportunity to graduate with a future not defined by climate chaos. For the good of our students and our nation, and to preserve the quality of life for this and future generations worldwide, we call upon you to join a growing movement of schools around the country that are committed to preventing a more extreme climate by moving The California Institute of the Arts endowment beyond fossil fuels.

  • Decriminalize /Legalize Marijuana in Maryland
WE all know that 2 new states this election year have legalized marijuana and in Oregon a person can get plants for medical reasons. It will be then, a more controlled substance and we each know someone who has used. Lets' tax it to help our finances state wide. If gambling/alcohol can be legal, why should people be put in prison for this ?

  • Allow Principle Reduction for Fannie/Freddie GSE Loans
The Attorney General, Jack Conway, KY has a commercial PSA for homeowners who were defrauded by Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Citi Bank, JP Morgan Chase or Ally may file a claim for principle reductiion or compensation under the landmark Federal & State Attorneys General settlement with the banks. Unfortunately, for me and many other borrowers from Countrywide/Bank of America, and other banks charged with misconduct, my loan is guaranteed by Freddie Mac (GSE), therefore, I do not qualify for relief. This is not fair and should be expanded to all of us who are affected by the actions of these banks.

  • Stop Foreign Aid to Uganda
For the Nations government, that is supposed to under their Constitution protect their citizens, to pass a piece of legislation that criminalizes homosexuality and makes it punishable by life imprisonment and or death is outrageous. In the 2011 fiscal year 527 million dollars went to Uganda and I feel that money should be spent here at home or be sent to countries more deserving.
