Medicare and Social Security are programs normal Americans depend on to survive in old age. I have heard that it is possible that Medicare eligibility age will be changed from 65 - 67 in the "grand bargain" between Democrats and Republicans to avoid the "fiscal cliff". The "fiscal cliff" would be less of a problem than cutting Medicare. I'm 55 and it's going to be pretty difficult to get an insurance policy to make up for this. Also I and my employers have paid into this fund - I don't consider it an "entitlement", that is, the government is not entitled to take that money to pay other debts.

President Obama has an Executive Order on his desk, waiting for his signature, that would prohibit companies that do business with the government from discriminating against their employees based on sexual orientation or gender identity. That would cover almost one quarter of the American workforce, but the President is dragging his heels. Each day that the President waits means that government agencies and federal contractors are free to fire or to not hire LGBT Americans simply because of who they are.

There has been poor cooperation in the House and Senate. We want them to put aside their differences and work with the President to get things done. This is what we pay them for. The Speaker of the House suggested that Americans did not want their Representatives to work with the President. This is not true; we want to move forward. Their is no honesty in Trip Advisors rating of hotels. They are being paid off to accept good reviews ....? "may and may not be hotel guest. We book hotels based on their honest reviews. I have experience guest who wrote negative emails and Trip Advisors did not post them. I experience extreme treatment at the hotel Artmore in Atlanta and I believe the world should be aware and the hotel should not appear on any list that begin with anything more than a 3 out of 10 for service, personnel, cleanliness, and customer service

We Democrats (Young and Old) of Florida seek to remove Rick Scott the Governor of Florida from office and the Republican State Legislature as they continue to make decisions not in the best interest of Florida. The latest was to announce after the eve of the landslide win of President Obama that he and the state legislature would not support Obamacare. Prior to that the Republican gang fought to suppress early voter turnout by cutting the days for early voting, and when the chaos of long lines emerged, the Governor fought to keep the voters from voting past 7:00pm on October 27th, This non-democratic action resulted in Republicans and Democrats banding together to vote inspite of his tactics. The list goes on from Rick Scott fighting the new speed trains system..he fought the new rail systems by sending the funding back to Congress. He is a disgrace to legacy of Charlie Crist a moderate Republican turned Democract and other leaders like Buddy Dyer who has lead the development of Orlando to be the No.1 travel destination in the world..

Fracking wells are destroying our water, roads and property values. Obscene spending by Special Interest groups on campaigns and lobbying is endangering your rights. Even more tragic, the current forbearances and deferments in place for students are not only insufficient in bringing relief to students/parents, but worsen the blow of the students's plight in finding their way in America's weakened economy. Lane County is named after Joseph Lane, Vice-Presidential candidate for the pro-slavery South, the Confederacy, back in the mid-1800s. He and many of his like-spirited friends later moved to this area, many more racists migrated here during the Great Depression. I think the Electoral College is unconstitutional. Outside of six states your vote for president is worthless. I honestly believe more people would vote from both parties if it was a popular vote. This is not colonial times with separate 'states' each with its own common specific interest. This is modern America with a vast segregation of all demographics across the entire country. I am sure that a number of people don't bother to vote unless there is a hot local issue.
