• Stop the 'legitimate' pillage
Bain (Romney) is currently dismantling a **profitable** US auto parts company and sending it to China, forcing US employees to train their replacements. They bought it with borrowed money, extracted all the wealth they could, then shipped the jobs overseas. We have recently heard about 'legitimate rape.' This is the legitimate pillage of America. Does the 0.01% have to make their money these days by selling out the other 99.99%? How is this legal?

  • Stop Making Commercials About Alcohol
I believe that all these commercials showing people partying and drinking, makes it look attractive to young people! It is a drug and should not be shown in commercials at all! It should have warning labels on it, just like cigarettes. How many people do we have sick and dying from alcohol addiction in this country? Why do people not sue the alcohol companies for wrongful death?

  • Congressional Reform
Time to end the gravy train of elected officials in Washington. "Career politicians" only care about their careers; are totally out of touch with their constituents. It's time they join mainstream America in our day to day worries about employment, social security and health care. Change the law so we will finally have politicians who are "in it" to serve, not be served!!!

  • Tell American Kennel Club to revoke certifications of puppy mill puppies!!
This petition is about the millions of dogs that are killed every year in America due to the greed and inhumanity of Puppy Mill owners and the continued indifference and inaction of the AKC. Puppy Mills are breeding factories where AKC registered dogs are kept in inhumane situations, forced to breed relentlessly with little to no veterinary care and whose offspring are often sick physically and challenged mentally. Please increase the pressure on AKC to revoke their certifications of all other dogs than those that are bred in private homes and who live as companion animals/pets.

  • Mayor Williams: Stop my eviction
In 2007, after 23 years of saving lives as an EMT with the D.C. Fire Department, I suffered a career ending back injury while on the job. During recovery I got behind on the mortgage for my home in Southeast D.C. My lender, JP Morgan Chase, moved quickly to foreclosure, auctioning my home off in December 2009. Less than $5000 separated me from keeping my home, but Chase never gave me the opportunity to bring the mortgage current. Instead they chose foreclosure, and sold my home to Freddie Mac. Since 2011 I’ve been working to obtain a loan modification so I can stay in my home, but just last month it was denied. Now Freddie Mac is pressing forward with eviction proceedings. The former Mayor of DC, Anthony Williams is on Freddie Mac's Board of Directors. I am asking that everyone in DC and elsewhere join me in asking him to stop my eviction.

  • Charlotte-Mecklenburg marijuana rationality reform petition
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s annual Uniform Crime Report 2010, marijuana arrests now comprise more than one-half (52 percent) of all drug arrests in the United States. We demand that our city stop arresting and prosecuting non-violent consumers of Marijuana and instead refocus its law enforcement resources to more effectively combat violent crime. We urge the city council to pass an ordinance making marijuana arrests the lowest police priority within the city of Charlotte-Mecklenburg, and we specifically request that an ounce or less (30grams) of marijuana be effectively decriminalized within the area.

  • Let cooler heads prevail.
Today, in a neighboring community, a man was arrested for threatening the life of the President. All this vitriolic rhetoric has a price. Besides dividing the country and stopping all progress, the rhetoric inflames the unbalanced and threatens the security of each of us.

  • Stop criminalizing special needs children
With budget cuts to mental health care services, schools have begun the practice of pressing charges against special needs children for behavior directly related to their disabilities instead of offering required services and following educational federal mandates to practice a manifestation determination. My 11 year old son now has a criminal record for the school's derelict actions in responding to his specific disability. This is the second school to respond to my son's disabilities, not by offering appropriate services, but by criminalizing him and pressing charges for non-injury incidents. Bullying triggered my son's disability and his inappropriate responses were his reactions to provocations. None of my son's actions resulted in anyone needing a band-aid nor even a trip to see a school nurse(or any medical attention). Stop adjudicating special needs children for actions directly relating to their disabilities. Fund mental health care services, now.

  • Voting Rights for all
I would like to see the Democratic National Committee or any democratic PAC, to use some of the advertising dollars, which in my opinion are a waste, to assist low income individuals with the funds necessary to obtain a state identification card. Many of the low income and elderly cannot afford the small fee, nor do they have the transporation to get to their applicable state offices to obtain the ID. Helping democrats DIRECTLY is more cost efficient than a TV ad which most people are immuned to at this point.
