• Tell Joe Walsh to stop the Insults
Congressman Joe Walsh has a long history of using condescending names and insults toward people whom he disagrees with politically. He has also patronizingly called me “my dear,” disparaged my military service, referred to a female TV host as “kiddo,” claimed that African Americans are “dependent upon government” and that “Jesse Jackson would be out of work if they weren’t,” and said that veterans who disagree with him “don’t understand this country.” It’s bad enough that Walsh constantly refuses common-sense compromises on legislation. But not treating political opponents with even a minimum level of civility? That’s unacceptable. It can be easy to tune out Walsh’s offensive comments since, frankly, there are just so many of them. But we have a responsibility to hold him accountable every time.

  • Save the U. S. Postal Service
First class mail rate increases on a service whose usage is declining make no sense. Increasing the revenue gained from bulk mail delivery will help the Postal Service remain solvent (and keep its retirement obligations to its employees).

  • Cancel the Las Vegas Watergrab
Rural Nevada is in a drought too. A natural area almost the size of Vermont will be turned into a dustbowl. And Southern Nevada neither needs the water, nor can it afford the 15 billion dollar cost. Besides; desalination would mean more water for everyone.

  • IAPMC Petition for A Nuclear Weapons Free Middle East
The US large military presence in the Middle East, threats of invasion and sanctions against Iran over the claim that Iran is building “nuclear weapons.” is exacerbating an already tense and volatile situation. These add to the fires burning in the Middle East, a real threat of another Middle East war with wide spread repercussions. Peace loving people must speak out. We are calling for support of the Conference to be convened by the Secretary-General of the United Nations together with Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States, in Helsinki, Finland in December, 2012, to be attended by all states in the region of the Middle East, to consider the establishment of a Middle East zone free of nuclear weapons and all other weapons of mass destruction. The establishment of such a zone would be based on legally-binding agreements freely concluded by all States of the region and with the full support and engagement of the nuclear-weapon States. The objective is to ensure that ALL the countries in the region agree to rid the region of nuclear weapons and all other weapons of mass destruction and their delivery systems. This is a logical solution rooted in both history and the anti-nuclear weapon experience. We urge you to sign our petition. Yours in Peace, Alfred L. Marder President, International Association of Peace Messenger Cities

  • Stop appointment of nuclear industry executive to Radiation Control Board
Utah legislators should reject the appointment of nuclear industry executive Dan Shrum to the state's new Radiation Control Board. This is literally a case of the fox guarding the hen house. His company, "EnergySolutions", is a company in deep financial difficulties scrambling to ram hotter nuclear waste past Utah officials. Ask the Utah senate to reject his appointment when it votes on August 15th.

  • limit political spending on campaigns
With the presidential campaign in full swing it's obvious how wasteful our election process is. Close to 200million raised and spent in one month on the presidential campaign. The other races are also spending vast amounts of money.. While the poor and middle class in our country cant find a job, are loosing their life savings and homes. Lets funnel that money back into the communities who need it. Hopefully this will create a platform for more transparent elections. Campaign reform is Essential and the only way to heal our country and we must eliminate all lobbyist in Washington. The owners or management of corporations/unions/any one with a lobbyist will be required to do their own bidding.
