• If You Think You're Covered By Your Homeowner's Insurance Policy - Think Again
I had a legitimate homeowner's insurance claim denied. The Insurance Commissioner's office in Georgia is useless. All they do is make sure the legal requirements are met. Even if the denial is based on nonsense, they have no building inspector who can look at the claim and make any determination. No lawyer would take the case because the homeowner can't collect anything except the cost of the repairs. That means the homeowner has to pay the attorney out of what is won, and what's left isn't enough to make the repairs. The insurance companies know this, so it is in their best interest to deny claims. They lose nothing and stand to make interest on the money for as long as they keep it.

  • Mitt, release five years of tax returns
The whole country is in peril because of the Bush tax cuts and the loopholes in the tax code. A man who we may hire as President has money in three different countries, I believe to evade taxes. Contrary to tradition, he has released only one complete tax return. I want a man running for the highest office to have keep the law. His behavior makes me think he hasn't.

  • Making my Vote Count
We need to end electoral colleges so that the people's votes count directly. If this is a country of the people, for the people, and by the people then why don't our votes for president count directly? This petition is to start a bill to abolish electoral colleges that can vote against the popular vote and create a national popular vote to prevent swing states from influecing national elections. If all men are created equal our votes should count equally.

  • Politicians: Save Our Climate for Our Children and Grandchildren.
I have four grandchildren whose life prospects are dismal if global warming due to green house gases continues to be effectively ignored. The behavior of the US House, Senate, and President is unbelievable in the face of this threat. We should not vote for any politician who does not make clear his or her support for effective action on global warming. This is in fact a national defense issue.

  • Voter suppression across the United States
The republican's are trying to steal this election by fighting voter fraud that does not exist. They are making it impossible to vote in PA and OH. Please sign the petition to tell them we won't stand for this. We send people to other countries to make sure people can vote but we are being silenced by republican governor's and their unfair voting rules. We need an executive order to help us...

  • Medicare for all 2 - 7 Plan
Millions of lives and our economy as a whole are being ruined due to the stranglehold of the insurance companies and the drug companies on our health care system. As a percentage of gross domestic product, we spend twice the average of other comparable countries on health care and get the worst results for it. (the absolute worst of other comparable countries) I waste time and money making unnecessary appointments with my primary care physician in order to see a specialist, and too many of the doctors that I do see are obviously in it more for the money than for the vocation. Millions of dollars and millions of hours of labor are wasted on paperwork to prop up an untenable system that benefits very few. We all live in fear of a health crisis ruining our finances. The issue is not really that complicated and the solution is simple, but nobody in Washington is going near it. Let's present them with something. We pay 1.45% tax our entire working lives in order to have health care when we retire. Why not pay 4% instead and have health care now and forever, for us and our children? (happy side effect: my plan's 14% surtax on exorbitant salaries will help keep that scourge in check as well)

  • Stop Police Brutality and False Arrests
Police brutality is on the rise, and we, the general populace, along with our Constitution, guaranteeing us certain protection, are under attack. A false arrests disrupts your life, livelihood and places you in danger of imprisonment. Lawyers fees to defend you can be burdensome. Judges look at the police report, and make decisions affecting your life depending on it, no matter if it is a complete fabrication.

  • Iowa State Fair Board: Publicly Denounce Hank Williams, Jr.'s Ugly Remarks Made During His August...
Hank Williams Jr. played to a crowd of nearly 8,500 Friday night, August 17th, at the Iowa State Fair Grandstand. Following the song “We Don’t Apologize For America” a chant of “USA, USA” broke out amongst the crowd. Williams smiled, telling the crowd that he was their mouth piece, adding: “We’ve got a Muslim president who hates farming, hates the military, hates the U.S. and we hate him!” The Fair Board had to have known what they were signing on for when they booked this performer. They apparently did so with no regard for the values celebrated by the Iowa State Fair. Let them know that they need to publicly denounce Williams' ugly remarks and apologize to the people of Iowa for including this performer in this year's Grandstand line-up. The Board needs to acknowledge its serious lapse in judgment in scheduling this show and to promise that Hank Williams, Jr. will not be welcomed back to the Fair in the future.
