• End Wall Street Speculation on Oil
The price of oil is set by the Futures Market, not by some non-partisan entity that calculates the supply and demand of that commodity. It is estimated that 1/3 the price of gas and diesel is due to speculation on Wall Street, and the hoarding of oil by large pension and hedge funds in storage facilities, tankers and containers. This must end, as the consumer pays this extortion rate through every gallon of gas he spends that is syphoned off through this speculative process.

  • President Obama, save our rural post offices and hundreds of thousands of jobs.
The United State Postal Service USPS is attempting to close post offices, cutting jobs of workers and the many people who service the PO. Congress in its effort to privatize the PO made them pay for 75 years of pensions costing 5.5 B a year. Rural PO's particularly in impoverished counties are vital to residents without transportation or bank accounts.

  • Congress: Extend the Pell Grant Limit
With the recent decrease in the amount of semesters that a student can receive the Pell Grant it is getting harder for students to obtain the college degrees that are becoming necessary in today's society. There are many programs, especially in the STEM fields, that require specific course sequences that are becoming more difficult to finish in the normal time frame due to increasing standards. In order to ensure that students can achieve their goals without going into serious debt we need to restore Pell Grant eligibility to a term of 18 semesters.

  • Political advertising.
Advertising cannot intentionally mislead voters by piecing together sound bites that make it sound like someone said something or meant something they didn't. It's misleading and unethical.

  • Relief for Low Wage Workers
Cost of living raises for low-wage workers and two weeks vacation time every year effective at date of hire. Ten paid sick days per year It is very difficult to keep up with the cost of living when you don't make a living wage in the first place. Also, too many places of employment make you wait at least one year before being eligible for any vacation time whatsoever. I have not had a private sector job that has offered paid sick days since 1993. These days if you are too sick to go to work, your pay gets docked making it even more difficult to pay the bills.
