• Boycott Exxon Mobil
While most oil companies give political contributions to both political parties, Exxon Mobil, the most profitable corporation in the world, gives almost exclusively to Republicans. In this age of Citizens United, it is important for (non-corporate) citizens to make sure their voices are not drowned out by corporate money. Withdrawing support from companies that work against our core values is the only recourse we presently have to fight against egregious corporate power.

  • Make Every Vote Count!
We hear so much about the importance of voting, but every day I hear that the Presidential Election is actually determined by voters in a hadfull of "swing" Districts. As a person who cares deeply, but usually lives in an area where my views are in the minority, I want my vote to count!

  • Maintain Separation of Church and State- Get Religious Texts out of Legal Matters
While being sworn in as a Notary in Pennsylvania, I was asked to swear on the Christian bible. Months later, while on a jury, I was asked to do the same thing. The final straw was while I was obtaining a marriage license and was asked again to swear on the Christian bible. Separation of church and state is apparently not honored as these were all legal matters and the state continues to show favoritism towards one religion (or a religion at all). We must ask to have religious texts banned from matters which are legal in nature.

  • SREC's in Wisconsin
Solar Renewable Energy Credits, SREC's, must be added to the WI Renewable Portfolio Standard to make affordable, distributed solar energy mainstream in Wisconsin. Using a sytem of SREC trading offers the solution to cost recovery and income from solar energy for people and businesses while transitioning away from "burn-tec" energy production. Distributed energy is everyones right, and using it effectively may prevent the need for expensive grid buildout in the USA. The states adoption of the RPS takes us almost there. We must have a "Solar Carve-out" added to it.

  • Tell Congress to pass President Obama's "American Jobs Act"
The Republicans keep talking about Obama not increasing jobs in the U.S. but the President's Jobs Act stalled in Congress. Our economy would have already turned around if this act had been passed. Let's do it now!

  • No Idle Idling!
Idling school buses spew diesel on kids; idling cars create great heat in parking lots helping global warming; idling vehicles at drive-thrus waste millions of gallons of gas. If it is not essential, then turn off your motor when your car is not in motion!

  • Big Banks
Some of the relief programs that the president sighed, the big banks are just ignoring them. Try and modify your mortgage with someone like Chase and see what happens after months of delays.

  • Demand the IRS investigate Karl Rove's Crossroads GPS
Karl Rove's Crossroads GPS organization and other right wing groups are listed as tax exemp social welfare groups under the Internal Revenue Code section number 501(c)(4) whose primary purpose legally CANNOT be political activity. However, this group alone plans to spend well over $ 100 MILLION this year to try to ensure Obama is defeated. This group is clearly NOT furthering general social welfare but undertaking almost exclusively political activity. As such, it is in clear violation of US law. So far, the IRS has turned a blind eye to the activities of Crossroads and other right wing propoganda machines. But, the Republican party intends to spend over $ 1 BILLION of corporate contributions on this election, much of it thru this and similar groups operating illegally as non-profits. We the undersigned demand that the IRS quickly and publically investigate the activities of not only Crossroads GPS, but other major election influencing groups as well and ideally shut them down for violating the law and/or fine them and tax them.

  • Reinstate Dennis von Elgg as our 2012 AIMC Graduation Faculty Speaker
Dennis von Elgg was nominated by the student body to be the faculty speaker at our 2012 Graduation ceremony. He accepted our nomination, but then the AIMC Administration decided to ignore the student body's vote. They have not only disregarded our vote to have Dennis speak at our graduation, but he will not even be attending the ceremony at the request of AIMC. We're calling on President Tanaka to reverse his decision and respect our vote as a student body.

  • More Change
Barack Obama campaigned on hope and change. He said "yes we can" and people agreed. Some changes have been made, however we need to push for as many changes as possible a) in the remainder of this term and b) if he gets reelected. Obama is working with an extremely difficult Congress however we have to continue to push for changes as hard as possible.
