Between the fracking of shale gas wells and mountain top removal, the gas and coal industries have been given a pass on the CWA (Clean Water Act). We should require the gas and coal industries to observe the CWA. Why should they be able to do the very same things that would put you or me in prison? Water will be the most valuable resource of the 21st century, and these industries our fouling our water in ways that will be permanent on a human scale.

"We want education!" This is why 50 high school students of Douglass Academy were suspended, after walking out of their classes to protest the situation that the all-boys school is in. The lack of consistent teachers and principle has resulted in the students passing time in the gym, library, or cafeteria with nothing to do. Signing this petition will make sure that the education system will not fail students in the future.

Repeal the recent ruling in changing The Texas Open Beaches Act. Allow the general public access to ALL beaches along ANYshoreline. The Texas Supreme Court has dismissed a 180-year-old custom of public enjoyment of Texas beaches as "unsupported by historic jurisprudence" and "a limitation on private property rights." All shore bound recreational fishermen/women and ALL beach going public that use beaches that happen to be in front of a beach house along the shoreline now can't use the beach with their families or friends because of this ruling in favor of landowners.

If this is the City of brotherly Love, why shouldn't the homeless be fed? Where is compassion for the down hearted people! One must be careful of denying the poor, whatever the plights of the poor could become your's! Mayor Nutter please stop being so cold to humanitarian issues! Trayvon Martin, the Florida teenager who was killed while walking home in his hoodie, is dead because someone who felt threatened by him took his life. George Zimmerman, Trayvon's killer, still hasn't even been arrested for the shooting. Why? Because Florida is a Kill at Will state. Astonishingly, Florida law broadensthe definition of justifiable homicide by granting people the right to use deadly force if they feel threatened. Thisextreme expansion of the right to kill, despite being fought by law enforcement officials, has occurred in 24 states. Right now, the legislature in Nebraska is considering following Florida's lead and becoming a Kill at Will state.If enough of their constituents speak out against Kill at Will, it can be stopped. Because of the negative attention theTrayvon Martin tragedy is bringing to these laws, elected officials and the media debating the legislation won't be able to ignore loud public pressure to keep Nebraska from becoming a Kill at Will state. These Kill at Will laws make us and our children all less safe. And they are a special danger to young people of color like Trayvon Martin, who may fall under "suspicion" from armed vigilantes simply by being young, black, and wearing a hoodie. Stand up for the next Trayvon by signing this petition, telling our Nebraska Government that we will not stand for a tragedy like that in our state.

Senators Jon Kyl and John McCain are trying to make the Navajo and Hopi Nations forfeit their water rights. They seek to take the water that the Navajo and Hopi people need to drink, farm, raise livestock, and maintain some economic independence, and give it to large energy corporations. We need to let the Senate know that this is deeply wrong, and that they do not have the people's support in this.

The City of Grants Pass is asking that we pay the difference toward improvements on Hubbard Lane in which this issue was never addressed by title companies and or developers. This creates hardship & anxieties to most of us due to hard financial times who are on a limited buget. I can't believe that they would want to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars on curbs, sidewalks, etc. when our police department suffers, our schools suffer, our homeless suffer, and our taxes continue to increase along with gas prices. The city of medford had a similar issue in which the City Council sided with the home owners. we are asking that our City council do the same for us.

I believe we should raise the age to 18 so to prevent death in thousands of immature teens behind the wheel. This has personally changed my life and needs to be addressed.

I am a 6th Grade student in the district and I am currently aware that Middle School sports have recently been cut from our budget. We are the only district in the surrounding area to cut middle school sports. Teens who participate in physical activity are proven to perform better in school . Children and teens should exercise for at least 60 minutes EACH DAY. Many teens will not reach this mark especially because we do not have Physical Education classes daily.
