My petition is about jobs and wages. Prices are going up. I feel if prices are going up, our wages should increase so people that are making minimum wage or a little over could keep up with the economy. People should sign this so they can see how many people struggle with their nickle and dime jobs and our wages have yet to increase so we can keep up.

Our petition is about promoting empowerment, and positive American History. Lexington, KY is full of positive uplifting history, however our city is littered with negative landmarks. Streets named after public lynching sights and slave auctions "cheapside" referring to the cheap slaves and live stock. Lexingtons "old" courthouse has a Confederate solider statue on Main St next to Cheapside. We feel taking action to have this statue removed would be taking a step closer to rid our country of racial insensitivity.

The education reform bill seeks to give vouchers so kids can attend private schools that are not equipped to handle children with disabilities, end teacher tenure meaning a teacher can be fired for any reason even if the reason is not a valid one, teachers would loose their jobs because of student test scores.

Tigard Oregon is a suburb of the Portland Oregon metro area. Tigard is supported by local caring people who shop local businesses, and have done their best to keep Walmart out of our town. Now the Tigard City Council and Mayor have approved a deal allowing Walmart to enter into the city where concerned citizens have repeatedly pushed Walmart out. Again Walmart has behind the scenes negotiated for a store that will not only lower property values, destroy local businesses, increase traffic exponentially in a area that is already overloaded with traffic, take away more living wage jobs and take money out of our community. For too long, our politicians have ignored the question of what is the role of war in a humane and democratic society. There is a distinct lack of a rational and moral consciousness among our political leaders regarding this question. I believe this is the time for such a national dialogue, while our nation, it seems, is being prepared for yet another war.

As a Counselor and community organizer I frequently come across children whose parents are either in jail or deported. These children are left to the mercy of some good samaritan or,if they get in trouble with the law - depending on the findings of the courts, they may become wards of the State. I would love to see a clause added to the immigration laws wherby children who fall under this unfortunate situation get thebenefit of becoming citizensrather than being deported. America is the only home they know, situation,are given special consideration for citizenship.Most of them are now adults and America is the only home they have.

This is about dismantling the post office,resulting in depleted income and benefits for postal workers as well as service to the public.

There have been several issues which seem to have polarized our community with respect to the school district. We believe that improving communication between the community and the school board could help ease some of this discord and potentially provide a forum to resolve conflict and restore confidence in our leadership.

People above the Social Security cap already have paid enough into the fund for retirement. The people above the cap do not have to pay Social Security and that mean they do not have to pay into the fund for retirement That also means They get more money on their pay than the ones below the cap. That NOT is fair To make those above the cap pay their fair share, They should pay the non-retirement things in the SS fund. I peopose they have money taken out of their check to pay for those things in SS fund that is not retirement.
