• Support the Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) Illinois Program
Due to budget cuts that affect State Parks facilities and programming, Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) is at risk of losing funding. BOW is an outdoor education program that invites Illinois women from all walks of life to gather together and learn skills that she needs to enjoy the great outdoors in a safe and responsible manner. BOW provides a supportive environment that allows women to gain confidence to perfect a variety of physical and mental skills. Thanks to a generous scholarship program, BOW remains accessible to women of all economic backgrounds, promoting participation from women who would otherwise be unable to attend for economic reasons. More information about the BOW program can be found on their website http://www.dnr.state.il.us/lands/landmgt/bow/

  • Oppose Mississippi HB-488
A petition to oppose the proposed anti-immigration bill (HB-488). The bill is similar to the bill recently passed in Alabama, which has had disastrous consequences for that state's economy, as well as reversed decades of progress in civil rights in the state.

  • Attorney General Holder: See That Justice is Done
On February 26, Trayvon Martin was shot and killed as he walked to a family member's home from a convenience store where he had just bought some candy. He was only 17 years old. Trayvon's killer, George Zimmerman (the community's self appointed "neighborhood watch leader"), admitted to police that he shot Trayvon in the chest. Zimmerman, who is white, called the police to report a suspicious person when he saw Travyon, a young black teen, walking from the store. In Zimmerman's words, Trayvon was suspicious because he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and walking in the rain. Here are the words of Trayvon's mom about what happened next: "When Zimmerman reported Trayvon to the police, they told him not to confront him. But he did anyway. All I know about what happened next is that my 17 year-old son, who was completely unarmed, was shot and killed. It's been nearly two weeks and the Sanford Police have refused to arrest George Zimmerman. In their public statements, they even go so far as to stand up for the killer - saying he's "a college grad" who took a class in criminal justice." Please join me in asking Attorney General Eric Holder to ensure that Trayvon's family gets justice. Please sign this petition to ask AG Holder to order an investigation into the blatant and violent violation of the civil rights of a 17 year old boy.

  • Utah Citizens Initiatives
Help pave a better way for citizens to take more direct action in Utah government than just voting for politicians every couple years. We can pick the subjects as we go along. As now we could consider reforming the initiative process itself. Or finally doing something about the ethics reform, or what is your subject? Help build an internet list of 100,000 Utah registered voters willing to be contacted about proposing, and/or downloading and signing, to put various potential initiatives on the election ballots for the people to decide. This is a cumulative, on going process to build something re-usable. The CountMyVote initiative cost big bucks, but was taken seriously as it got close to success, and lead to a compromise. Time will tell if the new system will work or be undermined. We don't have big bucks--but we do have time on our side. Full disclosure: I am currently running for House District 46 as a Libertarian. They have no caucus system--I will be on the Ballot in November. When asked what good one Libertarian can do: I can say things people who want party funding can't. Like champion this route to put issues to the vote of the people.

  • Foreclosure Crisis: Solved!
An economic hiccup would devastate the finances of more than 10 million "underwater" homeowners, throwing many into foreclosure. Mortgage lenders would be swamped with foreclosed homes. Already strapped homebuilders would be brought to their knees. In brief, we're one housing financial hiccup away from a National financial death spiral. Yet, without spending a dime or raising taxes a penny, the threat of fiscal calamity can be avoided by passing legislation that: (1) relieves banks of their capital requirements vis-a-vis mortgages, (2) mandates that lenders re-write "underwater" mortgages at current market value (marked-to-market), (3) mandates that homeowners cede to their lenders the difference between the amounts owing on their mortgages and FMV, and, (4) mandates that lenders re-write mortgages for 30 years at "preferred" interest rates and terms.

  • Insurance Coverage for Autism Spectrum Disorders
Currently many treatments for Autism Spectrum Disorders are denied or not covered by insurance companies. Passing SB 74 would allow children in Alaska who experience autism to receive the treatments they so desperately need to be healthy and fulfill their highest potential. SB 74 has been passed by the Alaska Senate, but it has been stalled in the Alaska House for the past three years. We have 34 days left in this legislative session and SB74 needs your help!

  • We the People will Defend Our First Amendment
A law has recently been past that limits our first amendment rights granted to us by our founding fathers through the constitution. HR 347 is violating our right to free speech, by not allowing Americans to peaceably assemble in protest where they choose. There are now "Forbidden Speech Zones" where we are denied our first Amendment right of the Constitution This is yet another step in the decline of civil rights for Americans. Please sign this petition and forward it to as many people as possible. We will not standby and have our civil rights taken from us one by one.
