• Stop the War on Medical Marijuana
Obama's policy on medical marijuana is an about face of what he campaigned on in 2008. His policies are worse than those of George Bush. Obama is raiding and shutting down legal medical marijuana farmers and distributors, destroying jobs and businesses. The question must be asked, is he engaging in this war against legal business because big pharma now has an interest in researching the benefits of marijuana?

  • Save Our Kids' Lives: Make EpiPens Part of every school's Medicine Chest
Another American school-aged child died at school because there was no way to use the lifesaving EpiPens that were being held for other students at her school. (She had an allergic, life-ending episode.) We as a nation should enact requirements that there be a few of these available in every school, and also, that school personnel not be held responsible if they must administer one, to either a student or a school employee, and something goes wrong.

  • Reinvestigate 9/11
We have not been told the truth about 9/11/01. Thousands of people died, and we don't have the true story yet. Theodore Olson, then Solicitor-General, told proven lies on national television about what happened. Why did he do this?

  • Let's name some Philadelphia Laureates.
This petition asks Mayor Nutter and City Council to name Philadelphia Poets Laureate. Laureates would serve for one or two years as cultural ambassadors for the city and inspirations to its school children. Other Laureates (Painter-, Sculptor-, Composer-, Dramatist-) could be named. Laureates would be paid a modest salary-comparable to a police lieutenant, let's say-from privately raised funds.

  • Remove the Social Security Earnings Cap
The shortfall in funding the future of social security can be relieved by removing the earnings cap (currently $110.000) after which no contribution to social security is made. By taxing all wages, salaries and self employed income fairly, including the highest wages earned, the shortfall in the Social Security Trust can be greatly reduced. It is time to stop the terrible inequity of taxing only low base earnings.

  • Stop Business Welfare
Often those expressing concern about US debt complain about safety net programs for the very poor 15% of Americans. • Poverty level is $22,314 for a family of four; full-time sales clerks earn about $20, 699. • Minimum annual wage is about $15,600 for 40 hours a week. • A worker can work just as hard as any CEO but still be poor. • The very poor poverty level is about $11,000; they get all of $1.44 per-meal in Food Stamps. If taxpayers stopped subsidizing low-wage businesses and required a living wage for all, there wouldn’t as much need for a safety net. Only 50% of full-time workers earn more than $44,100 annually.
