  • President Obama: Give Us Back Our Basic Rights
Since 2001, the United States government has been passing strange laws which seriously impose on our basic rights and go so far as to nullify many of the provisions laid out in the United States Constitution, most notably the first ten, our Bill of Rights. The Patriot Act, as well as the recent National Defense Authorization Act is illegal according to what we as a country have upheld as universal laws since the formation of out nation. It is morally wrong and schizophrenically obdurate to continue to wave our flag of freedom while systematically infringing upon the sovereignty of other nations who do not follow the 'inalienable' rights ideals which we in turn do not adhere to as a people. Tell President Obama to amend the constitution so that laws which conflict with provisions of the US Constitution are not only 'unconstitutional' but simply cannot pass or exist and will not be tolerated or enforced by any branch or 'bureau' of the United States government or its 'employees' on the basis that they are utterly unacceptable and unquestionably immoral.

  • Chemtrails
My petition is about what is going on in our skies with planes spraying these trails for miles day and night. We need to know who is doing it and why. We need independent tests to see what damage it is causing then we need to get it stopped. If it is not doing us any damage why is there no information from the government about it?

  • SB 131 Ohio Dog Law
SB 131 puts unecessary, costly hardship on the best breeders in Ohio. Some will lose their businesses. Pup prices will skyrocket and most people will not be able to afford a quality purebred dog. The huge puppy mills who produce thousands of pups a year will be able to afford the changes and will still be in business.

  • Tax Wall Street Earnings like Income Tax
Wall Street earnings are at record highs, yet they pay a much lower tax rate than the middle-class American's income tax rate. Our education system is crumbling, states cannot afford to keep parks open, people cannot afford to earn a living as an artist, and we are less able to create and enjoy cultural activities. We want to see Wall Street earnings taxed like Income Tax and funnel the revenue to fund education, parks & recreation, arts & entertainment, and other cultural activities.

  • New York State Legislature: Follow the Fair Redistricting Rules You Have Agreed On
Legislative districts determine who represents us and the boundaries of the districts. A bi-partisan committee of New York State’s legislators are currently holding hearings on the redistricting that occurs every 10 years following the census results. They have passed a resolution for sensible districts but it won't go into effect until after 2020! Now they are trying to "run out the clock" for this process in an effort to protect incumbents.

  • Ban Political Ads
Political ads cost millions of dollars to spread misinformation, exagerations and quotes out of context. The public hates them. The televised debates provide what we need to know about the candidates. So, why not call for a ban on political advertisement, similar to the ban on tobacco advertisement? Fellow citizens, please demand an end to all political ads.

  • Comcast: Allow Customers to Choose Channels Cheaper
Millions of people are not given choices as to what channels they want to watch and end up paying for numerous channels they don't watch at the discretion of Comcast. I believe I am at the mercy of Comcast in having to pay expensive monthly service fees for channels that I never watch nor care to watch. Why can't this company say they will provide channels at $2.00 a month and we can choose our stations and charges. I don't have any experience with dish TV but they are the probably similar. It seems ludicrous that if I want to enjoy cable TV, I have to accept these outrageous charges for channels I don't watch. Policymakers in Washington, please help us (especially those on fixed incomes) to direct cable companies to provide affordable, sensible consumer specific services.

  • Save our Historic SW Atlanta Schools & Communities
Dear Atlanta Citizen, We are joining together to let the City of Atlanta know as well as the Atlanta Board of Education that we are desiring the following: 1. To table the Demographic Survey in it's regards to close our historic SW Atlanta schools. 2. To redetermine redistricting of the school system that is propotionate to all zones (where it is equal). 3. To ensure that all of the APS schools receive resources needed i.e. being fully staffed (teachers, admin staff, etc). 4. To ensure that all of the APS schools are high performing schools. 5. To ensure that all high schools have intact feeder patterns. 6. To recommend that the closing of any schools in SW Atlanta or building of any new schools in North Atlanta are tabled until we fully use all the facilities in APS we currently have. 7. To increase the level of rigor and instruction with all school programs so parents will send their children to their neighborhood schools and not across town. 8. To ensure that all school structures are safe. 9. To ensure that schools offer summer and after school programs or work in conjunction with local YMCA's in the neighborhoods. 10. To ensure that equality for all schools is reached to it's highest potential and that we aren't solely dependent on one area of the city for success & we look to all schools of APS to be successful.

  • SC Government: Stop the Assault on Voting Rights
Background: The Voter Photo ID law was the first assault on voter rights in SC - that's the law the US Dept of Justice recently blocked and Governor Haley just vowed to fight for in federal court. She's taking a controversial law that already costs ~$1million, and committing another estimated $1million in legal fees (1). That's double-or-nothing gambling, with our (taxpayer) money on the line. And yet, there still are no documented cases of voter impersonation in SC - not a one. Now, certain members of the State House of Representatives are doubling their assault on voter rights by introducing legislation that will restrict voter registration drives (2). One proposed bill targets non-profits, teachers and volunteers who help others register to vote. House Bill 4549 would add cumbersome requirements for community-based voter registration (with fines up to $1000 for not meeting them). The similar law in FL caused the League of Women Voters and Rock-the-Vote to suspend all voter registration drives. Teachers in FL have been fined just for helping their students register to vote. We don't need or want that in SC. This bill (H. 4549), also called the "Third Party Voter Registration" act (3) will cause community-based voter registration drives to be a thing of the past if it passes. If you agree that's not good for our democracy, please sign today. (1) "State's Lawsuit Over Voter ID Could Cost $1 Million", Renee Dudley, Post and Courier, January 29, 2012. (2) "Lawmakers Eye 2 More Strict Voting Rules", Robert Behre, Post and Courier, January 29, 2012. (3) The lead sponsor of H.4549 is Rep. Alan Clemmons (R-Myrtle Beach), who also sponsored the controversial Voter Photo ID bill. • Online vote to nominate a presidential candidate
Valid candidates from all parties are often times overlooked or dismissed due to our 2 party system and nominations. Without the backing of big money, the hopes of our country having any lasting change will require an enormous effort on the part of the American people. This petition is a way to demonstrate the will and desires of the American people. I am calling for your support to initiate a change to our electoral system. If you are in favor of the American people deciding who will be best to champion their interests for the next four years- please sign this petition and show your support. We owe it to ourselves and our future generations to ensure the choices we make now will promote a positive environment to live in. By signing this petition you agree that you are in favor of expanding the presidential nominations to include a system whereby the American people will hold a secure online vote, where the winner will be nominated as a third presidential candidate for election.
