With the area growing, distance and response times to our closest Fire Station present serious risks to our community and its members. Currently, the response time to Del Valle and the east Travis County area is 13 minutes, which is unacceptable. The Austin Fire Department average response time is 8 minutes, the extra 5 minutes that it takes for a first responder to reach Del Valle could have dire consequences. The Berdoll Farm/Meadows, Los Cielos, and Lexington areas are part of the City of Austin. The City Council must ensure the safety of its citizens, even if we are only on the outskirts of the city.

We are calling out to Reddies and our community to show their support and keep the MMLC the way it is. As of Thursday, May 3rd, seven HSU employees were let go including our supervisor of student workers at the MMLC and our Digital Artist. It was later revealed by Henderson that they plan on "outsourcing" the center. The MMLC has been a resource to students, faculty, organizations, alumni, and many community members for decades. We pride ourselves on being a center that focuses on our patrons and not profit (we sell all of our materials for the cost to restock). HSU should be focusing first on students with their budget cuts and changes to the university. Please show your support by keeping the MMLC open and the way it is by signing our petition. I have always had a good life, and never knew what it would be like to live on the streets. I can only imagine that it is a tough way of life and want to do as much as possible to help those in need.

The Community Guidelines on Instagram do not serve people of color. As a group of white Instagram users who are able to post freely without being censored by Instagram, we are creating this petition to put a stop to this unfair silencing of our black and brown siblings. Queer people of color, people of color who speak about the racism they experience and women of color in particular experience the effects of this silencing but all people of color are affected. We want to see 1. Effective training of employees who handle reported posts to recognize racial bias and to disengage from enabling the silencing of black and brown Instagram users when they are reported. A person or people of color who do this work should be hired by Instagram to train employees. We want to see this acknowledged in a statement by Instagram. 2. A strict policy of uplifting voices of color as opposed to silencing them, reflected concretely in employee training. 3. Regular employee oversight by a manager over these reports with reviews on a regular basis. 4. Action taken against employees who silence Instagram users of color, perhaps with a three-strike policy resulting in termination. 5. The ability for users and followers of users to contest a report before posts are taken down which will be routed to a manager to assess the situation before people of color lose time, money, engagement and equal right to free speech by having their posts taken down.

I felt very disturbed about these perfectly fine people who have contributed so much to America. Right now their plight is at its climax. All it takes is a signature to give hope to these special people.

An investigation is warranted to reveal another level of corruption.

The EPA says that in the US in 2012, 65.3 million tons of recyclable materials were recovered from landfills. However, only 21.3 million tons of yard waste was recovered. In St. Petersburg, we generate a lot of yard waste, but disposing of it is difficult. Bagging and hauling dozens of bags of leaves every season to the city compost facility is a big job. Why not make it as easy as putting out a trash can once a week?

This petition is directed at Governor Cuomo as motivation for him to walk his talk on climate, and to highlight the hypocrisy of his "call to arms".
