• Paul Ryan is out of bounds
I have long experience in faith-based advocacy, which despite misrepresentation, is not partisan but is political as elected leaders need to be reminded that priority for the poor and vulnerable is at the core of all faith traditions.

  • Political game change
It's just a thought. But something has to bring these people back to working order. I used to vote depending on the person. Now, I'm obligated to vote democratic until they begin house cleaning

  • No Public Traffic Access At 19th & O'connell
City staff wants to widen 19th Street between O'Connell and Harper to a 47-foot arterial width and connect it to O’Connell Rd at Venture Business Park. For perspective, the width of the three-lane 19th Street stretch north of Lawrence High School is less than 35 feet. Although the City claims otherwise, we know that opening the connection would dump traffic into the heart of our neighborhoods from commuters, game day traffic, and business park employees. The City claims they have to widen the street and connect it because: 1) buses and emergency vehicles need to get through 2) the water line has broken frequently 3) it is missing sections of sidewalk 4) there are no bicycle lanes 5) the pavement is bad 6) it has open ditches Instead, the 19th Street Neighborhoods Coalition proposes: 1) A gate at O’Connell, operable by buses and emergency vehicles 2) Replace the water line, as done in other parts of town 3) Install a 6-foot sidewalk on the north side 4) Install a 10-foot bicycle path on the south side 5) Keep the open drainage for better flood control 6) Repave 19th Street at 22 feet wide, like other streets

  • Tell Congress: Hold the Department of Justice accountable and stop this toxic mega-merger!
The Bayer and Monsanto merger would mean that only four companies control the entire market for seeds and pesticides. If the Department of Justice rubber-stamps this toxic mega-merger, it will further entrench the failing model of chemical-intensive agriculture, which is poisoning people and the planet. We need your help to push Congress to hold the Department of Justice accountable to stop this deal NOW!

  • Tell Congress: Reject the GOP Farm Bill!
The GOP’s Farm Bill doubles down on a failing food system that harms our health, decimates soil and pollinators, pollutes our air and water, and accelerates climate chaos. Big Ag and the Republicans are fighting hard to pass this disastrous bill. That’s why it’s so critical that your member of Congress hear from you. They need to know their constituents want to kill this horrible bill and go back to the drawing board to pass a bill that supports a food system that is good for farmers, consumers, and the planet.

  • End Lunch Shaming
This petition is to raise awareness for lunch shaming. We want to educate people on this topic so they can fully understand this issue and protect their children from this excruciating embarrassment. Lunch shaming is a process performed by nearly 50% of school districts in the US. It occurs when children with past-due or unpaid lunch bills are denied food, stamped with a note on their body, or are even publicly humiliated by having their lunch dumped in the trash in front of other students to send the message home to pay their lunch bill. Unfortunately, many children cannot afford to pay for lunch and often school lunch is the only meal these children will receive. Several states have enacted laws to protect children from lunch shaming and we want to do the same here in Colorado. Please help end lunch shaming by signing this petition today.

  • Against Animal Experiments at Utah University.
As an avid makeup user and animal lover, I didn't take a second thought of how companies test their products. As I began to research Animal experiments for a school paper what I found was horrific. Most of the animals being experimented on for medicine and cosmetics are being chemically burned, paralyzed and injected with synthetic drugs. Ninety percent of drugs tested on animals fail in humans because of our body makeup. Some animals are even rejected pain medicine causing them to suffer.

  • No Verizon Antennas on the Kings Hwy Water Tower
Verizon has filed an application (Silvertail) to place antennas on top of the Kings' water tower, which is a prominent feature of our landscape. The tower can be seen from Kings Hwy as people travel into the historical Sugar Loaf Village, from Knapps View, Derose La., Pewter La., Well Sweep, Bellvale, Sugarloaf Mtn Rd., White Oak, Lake Station Rd., Ridge Rd., Silvertail Rd, Hambletonian Rd., Skyview Rd., West Meadow Way Rd. and in Warwick - Evan Rd., Helene Rd., Mila Rd., Evan Rd. and Darin Rd. Verizon has better choices than to mar the scenic landscape by placing antennas on this landmark.

  • Appoint a Hudson County resident to Port Authority Board of Commissioners
The Port Authority of NY & NJ is governed by a 12-member Board of Commissioners. The governors of NY and NJ each nominate six state residents. Four other counties have representation on the board right, but no resident of Hudson sits on the board. The Port Authority has no greater impact in NJ than it does right here in Hudson, which hosts six of seven of NJ's PATH train stations, both major tunnels, Port Jersey, Port offices at 2 Montgomery Street in Jersey City, and the JSQ transportation hub. Please join this call to Governor Murphy to fill this new vacancy with a Hudson resident! Please sign and share. (Read more: http://s.nj.com/UmO4WZD)

  • Roses for All! Bring back the Tuesday and Saturday Free Hours at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden!
I am heartbroken that the Brooklyn Botanical Garden has practically erased it's free admission hours. My high school students used to go after school on Tuesdays to sit under the cherry blossoms. Families used to spend Tuesdays, and Saturday mornings wandering the paths, their children delighting in wonders we city folks can't normally access. We have to raise our standards; it is not okay for our cultural institutions to be available only to the economically privileged. When I was a kid, the garden was free to all, every day. My mother still remembers the day, right after they began charging, that a big family turned away in disappointment, unable to afford entry. Free hours only on a Friday morning mean that no working person can go, and no young people can go. This is unacceptable! I have lived in Brooklyn my entire life, and been a member of the garden for the last four years. It is one of my favorite places. And I miss the sweetness of the Tuesday scene when the garden filled with families, youth, couples on dates. This is a plea to fix this wrong immediately; please BBG, be the community resource you are meant to be. Do not participate in discrimination!
