Last Thursday, the GOP attempt to make abortion illegal in South Carolina was thwarted by a unified effort by the state's Democratic Senators. All of the Democratic Senators pledged to filibuster until the end of the session to prevent a final vote on the abortion ban. Sen. Marlon Kimpson spoke for 8 hours to show the determination of the Senate's Democratic members. The Republicans relented, and sent the bill back to committee, effectively killing the bill for the year. Please join us in thanking the Democratic Senators for standing up for women, and for abortion rights.

Consumers don't support animal abuse -- but they are being denied accurate information by Big Ag and the US government through a series of laws, including the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act and numerous ag gag bills, designed to suppress and criminalize animal rights activism, making it illegal to even photograph agricultural facilities from public property. The public deserves to know how animals are being raised but Trump wants to keep the truth hidden so that large corporations will continue to pay him millions of dollars. We can't sit silently by while federal laws are protecting animal abuse and preventing the free speech of activists who try to expose the truth. The EMF Community’s goal is to save and maintain the EMF building as an affordable space for musicians and artists. The building tenants provide numerous economic benefits to Cambridge, and beyond, through paid and donated music performances, paid and donated music lessons, music engineering services, a pipeline of musical talent for local music venues, restaurants, and record stores, patronage to local businesses, and rents and homeownership tax from musicians who also reside in Cambridge. The EMF Community also richly contributes to the culture of Cambridge and the entire region, through creativity, public service, demonstration of work ethic against great odds, and community building and reflection. This community is a critical resource for the continuing development of local musicians and artists, and through them, a critical resource to the cities they serve.

Many people live in America for the freedom and liberty it offers. One of these liberties is the freedom of religion, and all the people of a religion should not be scared because of one discriminatory candidate.

The morning of March 13 Santos Hilario Garcia and Marcelina Garcia Porfecto, husband and wife farm workers, died in a car crash while fleeing ICE agents. Their six children, now without parents, are forced to fend for themselves and need your support. They are casualties of the Trump administration's targeting of hardworking immigrant farm workers who sacrifice to feed all of us. The family and community supporting them are asking you to sign the petition requesting that California Attorney General Xavier Becerra launch an investigation. The Delano police report supports the conclusion that the family's SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed while desperately trying to evade ICE agents when they lost control, hit a utility pole and their vehicle overturned on its roof. However, the police report on this fatal crash contradicts ICE agents' claims that they were not following behind the farm worker couple with their emergency lights on. It is deeply distressing that ICE agents' statements are contradicted by a surveillance video showing two ICE SUVs traveling behind the couple's vehicle with emergency lights activated, according to the Delano Police Department report. Why did the two ICE agents choose to misrepresent whether they were following the couple with their emergency lights on? And, why did ICE agents follow the couple if they not ICE targets? Despite the report, the Kern County district attorney refused to file charges against ICE. So we need to take it to the next level and ask California Attorney General Xavier Becerra to launch an investigation. Please sign the petition today! We will turn the petition in later this month.

I'm a homeowner in Rustica Oaks. I've been here since the very beginning- we were the second people to build a house from the ground up. We need to force Towne Properties to make this community pool what we deserve! It is now or never since the pool is still under warranty. We have rights, and let's assert them!

Artificial hyperinflation of homes in California is awe inspiring. Inspiring in the way that breeds hate and discontent with the out of touch and pompous governments that oversee all fifty states and the Federal Government. There is levels of income inequality that haven’t been seen since the early Twentieth Century. In Los Angeles alone 600,000 people spend more than half their income on rent and are considered “severely rent burdened”. More than 8000 people in Los Angeles became homeless as well for the first time last year. For every raising of rentals rates by 5%, another 2000 people can become homeless. If slumlords and developers can continue to steal from the hard working Californians without redress, we will in turn steal back from them before poverty takes another family under. The demand is simple, any new home that is left vacant, without a buyer for 12 months is subject to purchase by the state of California for the purpose of turning into a home for the homeless. They owner that is selling will receive an independent assessment of the homes value and fair compensation for the home. We cannot sustain the current trend of poverty that is decimating the Middle Class. We either lift everyone up or we level all.

Nationally, Hawaii has the highest rate of families living paycheck to paycheck. We have one of the highest costs of living, which leads to Hawaii carrying the largest average personal credit card debt in the country. Most people in Hawaii are one crisis away from slipping into homelessness. We can do better for Hawaii's working families.
