EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt is corrupt. His words and actions prove that he is strongly opposed to civil rights and environmental justice. He has even gone as far as actively working to tear apart our environmental protections. Currently, Pruitt is plagued by scandal for his many disreputable actions - bringing his top aides on a lavish trip to Morocco, spending $120,000 on a trip to Rome, hiring 20 personal bodyguards, and helping to secure massive raises for two favorite aides - all of these by misusing taxpayer dollars and funds meant to better the environment. He faces growing criticism on all sides, including members of his own party. The White House is reportedly frustrated with him. Even Republicans like Chris Christie think he’s on his way out. One of Pruitt’s closest aides resigned amidst the scandals, clearly demonstrating that his camp feels the pressure. But so far, Congress hasn’t done enough to push for Pruitt to be fired. Your Representative could help kick Pruitt out of the EPA by publicly demanding his removal. But we need your help to push them to act. As a result, toxic poisons end up in our landfills and eventually our water supply. Arlington Heights is a member community of the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County(SWANCC), but this relationship is neither well known or convenient for citizens. If the Arlington Heights government could sponsor an affordable cost-wise collection plan that is accessible, it will prevent poisonous chemicals from seeping into our water supply. The United States needs a secretary of state who will represent the best principles of our nation to the rest of the world. Mike Pompeo is not that person. He is a supporter of the Global Gag Rule, which hurts our ability to promote reproductive health around the world. He opposes LGBTQ rights. As the top recipient of campaign donations from the Koch brothers, he has stymied action on one of the world’s most serious security threats: global climate change. He supports the use of torture. He has longstanding relationships with anti-Muslim extremists. And his hawkish views on Iran and North Korea could very well lead us into another disastrous war. For all of these reasons, Mike Pompeo is absolutely the wrong choice to serve as the United States’ top diplomat, and the U.S. Senate should #StopPompeo by voting "no" on his nomination.

There is no other social media company today that has the enormous global reach combined with the personal intimacy and immediate engagement of Facebook. Facebook is a corporate monopoly whose business model is surveillance and user manipulation. It is a threat to our democracy. No single private corporation should have this much power over our lives and our futures. It’s time for Americans to take control of our data and our democracy. I have been doing research into the Palm Oil industry as a project for my Anthropology class, Living Primates. Upon conducting research, I found that Pepsi-Co uses the most amount of Palm Oil in the food and beverage industry. Pepsi-Co owns Frito-Lay, and I want to petition the usage of Palm Oil. I propose the use of Sunflower or Coconut Oil, or the development of an industrial-sized air fryer.
