Ag-gag laws are designed to help Big Ag keep animal abuse hidden from the public by criminalizing the acts that expose the truth. The public deserves to know how animals are being raised and ag-gag laws are a direct attempt to keep the truth hidden. People should be concerned about this issue because due to this lack of sleep, students are not performing to the best of their abilities. As a college athlete I feel that we should get paid because we are bringing revenue to the school, and don't have free time to get a job to support us outside of school.

According to PNM's own analysis, the San Juan Generating Station is not the most cost-effective resource option for New Mexicans. The fire and explosion in March have left Unit 1 inoperable. Before ANY money is spent on repairing the Unit, alternatives should be explored and a cost/benefit analysis should be provided to the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission and the public.

I am starting this petition on behalf of my fellow University of Portland community members who were deeply disturbed by the events that took place at this years Wally Awards. The events that took place mean that we as a University have created an environment in which an individual felt comfortable delivering offensive messages that blatantly perpetuate a culture of objectifying women and disregarding sexual assault. Additionally, the lack of a timely and appropriate response by our administration is very concerning. This time should be used to bring this very prevalent issue into the forefront of our attention. It is time for a large scale open conversation about sexual assault and gender dynamics at this University and an equally large response on how our administration intends to act to prevent anything like this from happening again in the future.

Governor Jerry Brown claims he’s a climate leader, yet under his watch California has continued to aggressively drill for dirty oil and gas. We know we need to keep fossil fuels in the ground if we're going to meet our climate goals, but Governor Brown has resisted any effort to restrict oil and gas production in our state. It’s time for that to change. As we move towards the end of Governor Brown’s time in office, we’re saying loud and clear: This is Brown’s Last Chance! Over 750 organizations have already signed on, along with thousands of Californians and others from around the nation. True climate leadership will help protect the health and safety of 39 million Californians and ensure a more equitable and healthy future for the billions of people around the world who look to Gov. Brown to help set the course.

OCS student education is a top priority! Our school is a community, comprised of caring individuals like Dr. Nick, who see the value in faculty, parents and students who work together towards a common goal. A goal to create a school environment where students feel safe and are encouraged to become the "best that they can be."

Economic growth and jobs in Northwest Illinois are fueled by adequate and diverse transportation services. This requires state and local support to reinstate and adequately fund passenger rail service in Northwest Illinois.

Last week, Republican Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI) announced that he is stepping down at the end of this term. That means he’s quitting Congress at a time when Donald Trump’s deportation force is separating more families than ever. Paul Ryan has stated a belief in immigration reform and the Dream Act. Just last year, he told a Dreamer, Angelica Villalobos, that people like her don’t need to worry about being deported. “I hope your future is here,” he said. Yet Speaker Ryan has never taken action on the Dream Act or other legislation that would help immigrants. He has been too cowed by Donald Trump and the white nationalist extremists in his own party. In fact, Ryan has allowed the Steve King wing of his caucus to hold numerous anti-immigrant votes. But Paul Ryan still has nine months left in his term. The Dream Act would pass in the House, if Ryan allowed it to come up for a vote. He has nothing to lose, and he could help change the lives of almost 800,000 young people who call America their home. Tell Paul Ryan: it’s not too late! Take action on the Dream Act now!

Time to pull yourself up by your bootstraps and work for that money. Preferably in a coal mine, as an undocumented farm worker, or be shipped off to fight a one-man war against North Korea.
