• Stop the Madness - No Military Parade
The purpose of this petition is to notify Congress and the White House that the citizens of the United States are opposed to a military parade. That the citizens are not willing to pay for a parade. The cost of the parade could provide funding for many worthy programs that are being cut in the current budget.

  • Protect Intercountry Adoption Affordability
A “per adoption” monitoring and oversight fee of $500 was announced last week by the DOS. This per child fee must occur at the time of a family’s acceptance into an adoption program. If the family is ultimately matched with a sibling group, additional fees of $500 per additional child will be applied. According to the Department of State and IAAME, these fees are nonrefundable, even if a family withdraws or if their process does not end with a finalized adoption. While accountability for everyone is extremely important the DOS pushing to increase fees for monitoring by IAAME, a group who has not even published their policies and procedures and has no contractual relationship with agencies is unconscionable.

  • Keep RideShare On Long Island
Please support keeping rideshare on Long Island. Rideshare (Uber, Lyft, etc.) provides not just an affordable convenience, it performs critical functions in Suffolk County Long Island. Rideshare fills the massive gaps left by an inadequate public transportation system by providing a very affordable option for riders. It keeps drunks off the road, reducing DWIs, accidents and the resulting property damage and fatalities. Living on Long Island is very expensive; we have one of the highest costs of living here. Drivers offer ridershare to supplement their income, in order to be able to remain on Long Island. We pay taxes and contribute towards the economy with this additional income.

  • Allow for a ballot initiative process in South Carolina
The people of the State of South Carolina are currently disenfranchised from political issues that are of importance to them when legislators fail to propose and enact legislative reform on such issues. "Direct democracy" as enshrined in Article 3, Section 1 of the South Carolina Constitution would vest legislative authority not only in the House and Senate but also with the people.

A small business owner or self-employed person cannot do their taxes without paid help. These people represent a driving force in our national economy. Our tax process handcuffs them with another cost in time and money.

  • Tell The Truth About Animal Farming
Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) has investigated a number of farms that raise nonhuman animals used for meat, dairy, and egg products that retailers advertise using labels like “humane,” “free-range,” “cage-free,” and other terms that suggest those animals are treated with care and compassion and consideration of their needs; those farms include Diestel Turkey Ranch, Pitman Family Farms, Land O’Lakes dairy cooperative, and Jaindl Turkey Farms, among others. Universally, those claims proved false. In every farm we visited, we found meaningful numbers of animals who had died due to illness, starvation, and blunt force trauma, as well as many others on the verge of death. The public, which cares about the welfare of nonhuman animals and bases its purchasing decisions on the same, has been and continues to be deceived. On a more fundamental level, our experience with the nonhuman animals used for food, including pigs, cows, and chickens, proves that they, like we, value their lives. We think that most people would be highly averse to taking their lives themselves, particularly after interacting with them. The fact that those animals are confined, mutilated, and killed on a massive scale will be looked upon by posterity as a moral catastrophe, and humane labeling serves only to forestall a genuine inquiry by the public into whether our relationship with animals needs fundamental change. For these reasons, we ask lawmakers everywhere to ban the use of humane labeling and force farms and retailers to tell the truth about how animals raised for food are treated.

  • Petition to Force Trump to Faithfully Execute the Law on Russian Sanctions
Russia intervened in our election in 2016 through attempts to hack voting rolls, social media aimed at swing voters, and theft of Hillary Clinton emails. The sanctions law represented a bipartisan effort to punish Russia for intervening in our elections in order to deter future meddling. President Trump has not taken the law seriously. He neither imposed the sanctions required in the law nor made the findings required for a waiver in public. Given the President's possible interest in encouraging continued Russian intervention to benefit himself and his allies in future elections, the normal process of cajoling compliance has little chance of success. Congress needs to threaten impeachment in order to secure compliance with a law designed to protect American elections. Furthermore, if Trump will not carry out the law and insists on protecting Russia from sanctions, he must be impeached for the safety of the Republic. We will not have a rule of law if the President defies acts of Congress and invites the Russians to rig our elections. David M. Driesen

  • A True Military Parade President Trump
I am not a veteran. I avoided the war and protested against it. But it’s time to welcome the surviving Vietnam Veterans home and give them the parade they never got. This could heal a lot of old wounds.
