• Do NOT eliminate student loan FORGIVENESS
We should be concerned about the loss of teachers, social workers, nurses, Peace Corps volunteers and many other public service employees. Eliminating this loan forgiveness program will cost us public service professionals and deter those from pursuing careers in the public sector and/or volunteering for the Peace Corps or Americorps.

  • Stop racist attacks on Black Americans by racists and cops
This is to stop all the racism against Black Americans. It is time for Congress to do their job and work for Black Americans. It is time to come down hard on white racist hate groups. Racists hate groups are working without any concern for what they have been doing to Black Americans since 1964. Now, racists are strong enough to have their own flag and their voice in government. Black Americans are mistreated, murdered and imprisoned without a voice. Congress is the voice of all Americans and it is time for Congress to address this situation.

  • Fight eliminating loan forgiveness for public service bill
I have family members who went to graduate school and wanted to give back to society. Their school debt is high, but they felt the worked they did was important. They are working to pay down the loan for 10 years and contribute to society. Now this bill will devastate their future and make many rethink future educational goals. This bill is vile.

  • APS: Best Practices in School Climate and Students' Rights
Preserving the constitutional rights of children in APS is important to us. Virginia currently leads the nation in referring children into the criminal justice system. It is also important to us that this trend, also known as the “school-to-prison pipeline,” be dramatically reduced. Some of the main contributors to the school-to-prison pipeline include zero-tolerance and overly punitive school disciplinary practices, which result in students’ reduced access to instruction. Policies and practices should aim higher. APS should set the bar higher than simply not violating students’ legal rights. Changes made to the 2017-18 APS Handbook that expand search and seizure practices without reference to either reasonable suspicion or probable cause should stop, pending School Board review of the policy and practice. • Stop National Concealed Carry Reciprocity!
The gun lobby and its allies in Congress are trying to pull a fast one. The U.S. House passed national concealed carry reciprocity in the belief that we are too distracted by everything else that's happening to notice. When it comes to the safety of our families and communities, we are never distracted, and we can still stop this bill in the Senate! The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017 compels states to recognize concealed carry permits from all over the country, regardless of how lax permitting standards are in other states. Some states have lax standards indeed: A Sun-Sentinel investigation found that Florida issued concealed carry licenses to people who would fail background checks in other states, like people with domestic abuse injunctions and gun violations. And at least 11 states don't require permits at all to carry concealed weapons. Should federally mandated concealed carry become the law of the land, an individual state would no longer be able to control who is authorized to carry a concealed gun within its borders. Police would not be able to quickly find out if out-of-state permits are valid, putting law enforcement and the public at higher risk of harm. Mandated national concealed carry would gut common sense gun safety laws that advocates have worked hard to pass in states across our nation. Americans are already about 20 times more likely to be killed by a gun than someone from another developed country. Now is not the time to weaken common sense safety standards or states' rights! Tell Congress to oppose federally mandated concealed carry legislation now!

  • Demand for Independent Medical and Psychological Evaluation of Donald Trump
Donald Trump still has not provided the People with an adequate, appropriate statement of his current physical condition, despite numerous requests. In addition, since taking office, and before, Donald Trump has put the American People in danger because of his reckless, unstable, inconsistent, unethical, immature, dishonest tweets and behavior that spit in the eye of the American values that actually always have and DO make America great, not to mention his brining us to the brink of possible nuclear war with North Korea. Therefore, the People demand that Donald Trump submit to a full and thorough independent psychological evaluation. Full reports including a full list of tests administered as part of both evaluations and a summary of results for each test will be published to the American People as authored by the physicians performing the evaluations within 30 days of completion. Results will be shared with Donald Trump prior to publication but only for informational purposes, not edits or changes. The authors will retain approval of the final report for publicationh purposes, and distribution/publication to the American People. Since Donald Trump likes to measure his announced fake accomplishments against those "of the previous Administrhation," this petition demands that Donald Trump submit to testing equally as rigorous and comprehensive as did Barack Obama during his Presidency. The People also hereby respectfully demand that the independent professionals performing the independent medical and psychological evaluations will be selected by the "most trusted politician in America," Senator Bernie Sanders. Senator Sanders will also ensure that the selected professionals are qualified by experience, doctoral degree and board certification to perform the evaluations. Senator Sanders will also receive a copy of the final report for informational purposes and timely distribution/publication to the American People.
