• Rep. Peter Roskam should stop taking money from the NRA!
As a veteran, I am appalled at the strangle hold the NRA has on our congress. Our representatives should not be taking money from the NRA.

  • Support Cowboys Players if J. Jones Sidelines Them for Kneeling
We believe it is wrong to sideline players for protesting the systemic injustice against blacks in this country. The best thing the NFL owners could do to return their player to standing during the national anthem is to visibly show the players (and public) that the owners are using their influence to counter Trump's cowardly and racist rhetoric. The damage that Trump's rhetoric (and the owners' complicit inaction) to the players' lives outweighs the benefits of having a good job in the NFL. The players are doing their best to do their job while living in a country with issues larger than their job. The owners should do their job of creating an environment (which includes issues outside their stadiums) that helps their players win games. If the owners refuse to do this, necessitating that some players feel compelled to kneel and be docked time and pay, then we the people of the USA will financially support those players while publically highlighting the injustice those owners perpetuate and in effect show that they have inadequate understandings of how to manage a winning team. We are taught that, and the President provides and example of, hate begets hate. The NFL owners and commissioner seem to have not learned this. Their solution to their perceived problem of their players acts of silent protest against oppression is to apply oppression. Clueless owners are poor managers and cannot ultimately create and support winning teams. Please, you know the players' cause is just and is greater that an issue of simple respect. Support their cause in ways that visibly show you understand that it is difficult for the players to highlight a just cause at the cost of igniting a smaller battle. The players are willing to lose a battle if they believe they must fight to win a war. What is the war the owners are fighting?

  • Remove District Attorney Vance
Article XIII, Section 13 of the New York State Constitution requires that any District Attorney who fail faithfully to prosecute any case of bribery of any person holding public office in his or her county that comes to his or her knowledge shall be removed by the Governor. Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. has refused to prosecute, among others, Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, and Harvey Weinstein after making campaign contributions to his office, overruling other prosecutors. Governor Cuomo must remove him from office.

  • Is Trump cutting his own taxes? We deserve to know!
President Donald Trump has refused to release his tax returns ever since he entered the presidential race, breaking with decades of bipartisan precedent. And there are already plenty examples of him and his family personally profiting from the presidency. That lack of basic transparency took on new meaning when Trump proposed a massive tax cut for the wealthy and corporate interests. Now, we have to judge the President’s tax plan without any idea how much it would benefit Trump himself. This is exactly why elected officials are expected to share their tax returns with the public -- so that voters can hold them accountable and evaluate conflicts of interest. But instead, Trump wants to rewrite our nation’s tax laws while keeping his own business dealings secret. Just one example -- Trump’s proposal to end the estate tax would likely save his children millions of dollars. There are countless opportunities like this in the tax code for Trump to enrich his personal wealth -- and we can’t know what they are without seeing his tax returns. Everyone has a right to know, and the right to basic transparency from the President of the United States. So before Trump moves his tax plan forward, he ought to give the public a clear picture of his background, experience, and business interests. Please add your name to demand that President Trump release his full tax returns to the American people.

  • Don’t let Trump meddle with Mueller’s investigation
We The People must speak up right now to protect the investigation into Russia's election meddling -- and whether President Trump was involved or obstructed justice to cover it up. The President has reportedly considered whether and how to fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is currently investigating him and his team. If he follows through, it'd be a shameful repeat of Nixon's Saturday Night Massacre, leading to a full-fledged constitutional crisis. Mueller is leading the FBI and Department of Justice investigation into possible illegal collusion with Russia to interfere in our elections. His job is to make sure no one – not Russia, not wealthy interests, not even the President or his family – is above the law. That’s why it’s vital that Congress act now to protect Mueller’s independence, and prevent Trump from firing him. Two bipartisan pairs of senators -- Tillis (R-NC) & Coons (D-DE) and Graham (R-SC) & Booker (D-NJ) have proposed legislation to make it harder for Trump to interfere with Mueller’s investigation, and Congress must hold a vote on them. If Donald Trump's campaign colluded with the Russian government's interference in our elections, it would shatter confidence in government, shake the foundation of our democracy, and cause a scandal that could exceed Watergate's impact on the nation. We deserve the truth. That’s why it’s time for every member of Congress to put country before party and pass legislation to protect Robert Mueller’s investigation. Add your name today.

  • Protect Medical Marijuana
Attorney General Jeff Sessions is pressuring his allies in congress to let the Rohrabacher‐Farr amendment expire. This amendment prevents Sessions from prosecuting the medical marijuana industry. If it expires, then Mr. Sessions will have money available to order his Justice Department to conduct federal raids on medical marijuana dispensaries. You have the power to keep that money out of Mr. Session's hands! Let congress know that you want the amendment kept alive! All you have to do is sign this petition.
